Actually this has been something that keeps baffling me. Previously, when I went to any of the shopping sites through flybmi.com/shopping and in fact signed up to shop at some of the sites, I don't ever recall the site asking for my diamond club number. They certainly don't for iTunes.
If so, how do they actually track you down to give you the miles you're due from the purchases? Any techie explanation that can shed some light would be appreciated!
When you sign in via the site, you pass your details over to another server (ssogateway.points.com which then resolves to earn.flybmi.com), which contains your DC number and and a few other details (have a look at the address bar when you get to the main shopping page... you might see a number beginning with 0/1/3/6 that you're familiar with (over clear HTTP for those of us who are slightly security concious)
That's enough to help generate tracking information about what you've done. All done by the magic of cookies ... as well as the magic of Points.com...
I've just tried to buy an itune from the bmi->Apple iTunes GB site, but when I click "shop now" I get an "Internet Explorer was not able to open this Internet site" error message. Anyone else getting this ?
Worked fine last night Oxon Flyer... it could be that the Apple Services (phobos.apple.com) is having a moment ... (Much like a few other things in Apple).
I made my first transaction last night - receipt issued, Points.com haven't credited it yet to my account. I'll hold off until it shows up in my pending history before I make another transaction...
Another possible complication with the iTunes Store is that they tend to sweep up small transactions over a few days and only make one credit card collection (and send one invoice).
So this might mean that each invoice is treated as a transaction, rather than the individual "purchases".

Looking at the error message, it appears the iTunes site is trying to download something onto my PC, which is probably verboten and blocked by the corporate policies.
Make sure itunes purchases are for more than £1. As purchases under £1 won't trigger any base miles, its fair to assume they also won't count towards bonuses.
Oxon Flyer, When you click the linky, it opens up a linky to iTune music store, which sends a command for iTunes to start... so if you haven't got iTunes and your Sysadmin is an evil person (ala me), then it won't work...
And thanks Raffles... oh well. One less extra purchase to be made then (though I did get a 99p purchase on eBay to register amazingly).
B&Q certain areas can order online and collect in store so no delivery charge (plenty of £1 stuff) .. waterstones free delivery joke book £1.59 highway code £1.75.......so watch out for considerate drivers telling crap jokes cos thats me

Just received the email from DC for my account, some 29 hours after the first post in this thread.
Wonder how long it'll be for the email to arrive for the other accounts I look after. I'd guess one tomorrow, and one on Sunday, given the usual 48-72 hours time period it takes to get all three.
