The 5k bonus miles link is dead now
The 4.5k bonus miles link gets you to the terms and conditions page, but there is no way to click a button to get to the enrollment page, so I would think you would not get any miles

Tried signing up my father-in-law on 1 Dec, but got the ominous "website is under maintenance" message.
When trying to resubmit, the signup page appeared to have recorded his email address, but no confirmation email with membership number was received.
There is a difference between an online profile and a Diamond Club account. During the so called maintenance an online profile was created, but not a diamond club account.
Log into the online profile, close the webpage, click the sign up link again, and then you should be offered a short form which will sign your father in law up to DC.

Did exactly as you instructed, and indeed reached the short form. But upon clicking "Join DC" on that page, the next page showed "The bmi website is currently unavailable due to maintenance."

You just need to persevere with it.
After three attempts at the short form I finally created an account this morning!
Is anyone who did not have the 5K posted right away seeing it post as of the 35th working day? It is about that time (daughter signed up 11/2) and still no miles in her account.

I saw this 5K promo and decided to sign us up for DC on 11/9. None of us (3) got immediate miles and they still haven't posted.
35 working days is 7+ weeks, so there isn't too much time left, assuming they will post.
none here either for dad and sister and a couple friends.
None for me under old 5K promo either.
It looks like in general if the bonus does not post instantly, it won't post at all. Time for a snail mail to BMI's UK office.
On the other hand, a new 4.5K bonus is up (here is T&C) - found by chance on the BMI site:
Join Diamond Club today, and if you fly with bmi before the 31 March we'll give you 4,500 destinations miles. That means you'll be well on your way to earning enough miles to fly.
and sister in law got the promised 4k...
