Time to spill the beans on DC/bmi errors in your favour?

Now that the scheme has closed, and nothing can be affected by any admissions, have we reached the time for a few admissions about errors and anomalies on DC redemptions or bmi bookings that worked to our advantage?

I will start with redemptions to AMM. Mrs Antichef and I went to Jordan so I could win a £5 bet on making a redemption at some stage within twelve months (it's a long story). I booked two redemptions flying business class from BHD-LHR-AMM, and very nice it was too in the mid haul C class seats, which I also got at economy rates as a BD*G.

Both bmi cards entered on booking, me first named and she second named (she was blue). After we finished the trips her account gets credited with full status points and dest miles for the business class trips. Effectively half the miles back again! I later found by word of mouth that others had received the same bonus.

We did it twice that year and she got elevated to BD*S for those flights, and we got half the miles back. Sweet!

Booked TLV-FRA-CAI as a Z5-Z5 redemption with the free 9000pts accounts which was significantly cheaper than just the TLV-FRA which I really needed.

I refunded 3 one way redemptions and I got back the miles for a return!

I also did a LHR SIN MLE, I confess, skipping the last leg.

I also did a few Mr & Mrs Smith sign ups by noting down the card number from copies in Waterstones, without buying them.

So nothing, really, in the scheme of it! Wouldn't make the top 100 of any list!

Flew Washington DC to Manchester New Hampshire in First (900 miles)...

Ended up getting points from Washington DC to Manchester UK (long after the said route had been pulled) - and I remember thinking it was around 9,000 thereabouts!

Wonderful!

During the last bonus miles promotion I flew EDI-LHR-NCE-LHR-EDI. The 12,000 mile bonus posted as expected. Then the following day the 12,000 miles posted again. I kept quiet about that one...

I got the sign up bonus for the paid AmEx, cancelled it after a year and unexpectedly got the bonus for the free one that I replaced it with shortly afterwards. I don't think that was supposed to happen, but I didn't ask them. Or here.

I don't think this thread is such a good idea. I mean, I know we like to talk about these great deals we got, and certain topics should be fine in this respect. But please do remember that some people still have outstanding trips to take, or other issues, whereby bragging about certain deficiencies within BMI could potentially cause problems for some who took advantage of them. So in short, think carefully about what you post and if you think it could cause some troubles for your fellow flyers, don't post. I'd love to tell you about some of what I found that's never been mentioned, but won't for those very reasons.

I had some random miles turn up for an AC flight which was nothing to do with me.

More of a work related confession, I had my ex boss's Hilton account crediting miles to my DC. He booked rooms for me in his name so he could earn status more quickly. At check in I showed my DC card to get the miles on the stay. I got miles from his stays for years afterwards.

Should we have a Simon Mayo style 'Confessions Collective' to decide whether these deeds are forgivable?

These sorts of things happen in lots of airline schemes, Maybe not to the extent of bmi but they do happen.

Application of eGUV - business Class miles would post
Certain remote outstations would post an I class redemption as a revenue ticket

Redeemed Aeroplan miles for a domestic RT on bmi LHR-EDI in business class and got full business class miles and bonuses. Can't see any harm in posting that one, it was quite some time ago.. and I believe I-class was also a revenue class.

Nothing big, but I had the wrong FFP on a boarding pass LHR-EDI, and I asked the woman in the lounge if she could change it. She must have been confused, as she apologised, and not only did the miles show up in the original account AND the new account, but the new account also received a 10,000 mile compensation/apology. Which is quite significant considering I got about 172 miles for the actual flight. I never understood it, but figured I wasn't going to complain.

BMI error in my favor? Let me think. One of the last retrocredits for my wife credited twice. It was an invol. reroute on an AC ticket where my wife flew LH and the LH miles credited, but not the LX on the return. When I sent in the LX BP and requested miles for ZRH-BOS with the original ticket they also credited BOS-YYZ-ZRH. Nice double dip which allowed me to book another C-class M+C o/w booking
