ICC agent said TK bookings are no longer possible. Before 31 May
I just made a final call to the ICC to search for TK availability and he told me TK bookings are finished and *A members are going to start removing BD availability going forward until complete removal on May 31. If this is true it is very bad news.
Are you kidding me? where have you been for the past few weeks, on the moon???
I have been very active on these forums. BD was meant to leave *A on May 31. No one ever said that airlines will start breaking off relations with BD one week early.

I must have been on the moon, too, as I had read so far that on May 31st, redemption would be stopped, not "at a random point between now and May 31st". The "late redeemer" must be concerned and unhappy with that...

I have closely followed this forum as well. Did a final redemption before the end of March but since this new 20% promo came along, I bought enough miles for a GRU-BEG flight and since TK is gone, the closest I can get to BEG now is either BUD (and face a 5-hour drive) or VIE on TP. If a VIE-BEG HG ticket weren't so cheap I would be freaking mad.
I emailed *A last week & got the following reply: Thank you for writing to us at the Star Alliance Help Desk.
The Star Alliance customer benefits will be honoured and offered by both bmi and the other members of the Star Alliance network until 31 May 2012, with a small exception with respect to the Lufthansa Group airlines (LH, LX, OS, SN).
Even though bmi will exit from Star Alliance, the Alliance customer benefits, such as mileage accrual or redemption, lounge access, extra baggage allowance, priority baggage, etc. will all be offered until 31MAY12.
( not applicable for BD FFP on flights operated by LH,LX,OS and SN and by the same token to LH,LX,OS and SN FFP members on flights operated by BD).
I have since emailed BMI, TK & *A for a response - it would appear that someone isn't obeying the rules.

Apologies, I read your initial post as you being surprised that no awards will be allowed anymore after 31st.
I just got off the phone with them. I pressed to speak with a manager. I wasn't given a manager but the agent said on behalf of the manager that TK is not giving BD any more availability.

That email is absolutely correct, but also has no relevance to the issue with regards to award availability as the Star Alliance email is about benefits, not access to redemption inventory. Inventory is something that any airline can restrict at any time either as a supplier or as a booking agent.
The reason why this is rightly being flagged up as an issue is that a very clear timeline was set-out on what would be available and until when. Whether this issue is at the TK end (as I suspect) or at the BD end, is another matter.
It certainly isn't a Star Alliance benefits issue though.
It could be TK blocked BD due to too many bookings as they would be one of the only major European airlines left.
I thought it was the cause of this, maybe. There might be a huge amount of outstanding miles on BMI accounts for all we know. Informed flyers probably burned them earlier or adjusted their plans. But there could be a large number of "infrequent flyers" who have average balances and who decided to burn them in the last few weeks, since they got the email from DC. They could cause a dearth of seats on TK? Not fair, but who knows?
