I am very interested to see what pans out here, as my BD gold expires in August and my BA gold in Feb 13. I am already half way back to BA Gold, but if I read your case correctly then if I go for the status match now I would get automatically re-qualified for BA this year up to Feb 2013 and then on for another year to Feb 2014.
I was BA blue.

I'd guess you'll be matched to your BA renewal date, so BA gold through to Feb '14 (with card expiry Mar '14).

Do let us know when you get your confirmation

I got the same rejection message from BAEC. I'm a DC Silver, although I was comped to that so perhaps that's the problem? I've queried it anyway, but in the meantime I've still got the T5 LHR lounge access through my DC card (expires Sept).

If BA are rejecting certain DC silver and gold members during the status matching process, then that's patently unfair and they should not be calling it an "invitation to all DC members".

Either they are offering silver for silver and gold for gold, or they are not.

I was matched within 48 hours. I applied the first day it went live. I was BMI Gold and got BA Gold through January 2014.

Interestingly, although I obviously have no card yet I was able to get into the Aer Lingus Gold Circle Lounge in Heathrow Terminal 1 today. I just logged into my account on my phone and showed my status to the agent at the desk. Worked no problem.

I suppose this thread will surge today and yesterday with all the people who had created a new BAEC account and had their expiration on May 8th.

I got my BA silver now. Thanks BA Exec Club

More interested in the extra luggage than lounge access so filled in form now rather than later.

Possibly down to me having zero status miles this year. To be perfectly honest, I can't justify any EDI-LHR flight through BMI to at least remain active on it if I can get EDI-LCY cheaper on BA.

I'll wait to see what they do about the tier match. At worst, I'll make BA Silver later this year on my own, just hopefully before my DC card expires...

I'd complain anyway. Even if the status match web page doesn't state it will happen automatically, the accompanying email said:

As part of the transition of bmi into British Airways, from today (1 May 2012), British Airways is inviting you, as a Diamond Club member, to also join the Executive Club at your equivalent tier status level, which will be in addition to your Diamond Club membership.
Seems straightforward to me.

I got my match e-mail today from BD*G to BA Gold... requested the match on 1 May (as soon as it opened basically). My 'membership year' ends on 08 June 13 but my card expires on 31 Jul 14... can't complain about that!

Some have had nil status miles in their (compd.) DC Gold account & only a few weeks to run before dropping to DC Silver but still got matched to BA Gold.
