Arrow OFFICIAL - Miles and More update - Diamond Club is safe for 2011

Now that bmi is a part of the Lufthansa group of airlines, we are evaluating being part of Miles & More in the long term. A final decision has not been taken and such a move would not happen in 2011. For the foreseeable future we are firmly focussed on ensuring that our Diamond Club scheme meets the needs of our loyal customers. Therefore we will continue to improve and develop Diamond Club. We will be launching Star Alliance Upgrade Awards in Q2 this year, which will enable Diamond Club members to upgrade on the majority of Star Alliance airlines using their miles, as well as bringing a number of new partners on board.

Miles and cash is here to stay, We have no plans to remove it once we introduce Star Alliance Upgrade rewards later this year.

Standard Reward Chart - We have no plans to make any changes to this chart at the moment.

Star Alliance Upgrade Rewards - When this is launched we will have a completely seperate rewards chart.

I'd be interested to know how upgrade awards will fit with the existing Diamond Club awards. Are they likely to replace miles & cash awards, or is the plan to keep the three different ways of earning an award (miles only, miles & cash, upgrades)?

Anyway, good to know DC is staying for the forseeable future!

At least we have some clarity in the short term. I guess it means I'll need to qualify again next year (which will be year #10 just in case that might count for anything down the road...).

When I saw "miles and more update" and who it was from I did fear the worst. However it is great to know that I can continue to chase status with bmi for the coming year ^

Thank ye gods. Will now be able to complete our dream trip in 2012 using miles (can't afford C or F fares in cash).
