Orlando BW worst ever

Had the worst hotel stay of my life. Thought I would try a Best Western for the DL Sky Miles. Never an old one again. Never fell asleep, too many bugs.

Sorry!

FWIW, as a general rule, IMHO:

Outside of the US - Yes
Inside the US - NO!!!

Yet there are of course lots of exceptions.

Actually, I thought the Best Western Hotel Doral in Guayaquil was pretty bad. Very difficult to get to sleep with all the road noise. bathroom scummy - etc.

I'd qualify that, doc. Throughout most of Europe, BW mid- and upper-range properties are quite acceptable to very good. In major cities across North America, variable, but you get what you pay for. The Imperial in Portland was a quite acceptable property in a great location at half the price of its ritzier neighbours. In South America, I found los Espanoles in Santiago very nice and well cared for, and again at half the price of the major properties.

I've stayed at a number of BWs in the western part of the US. They seem to be OK and in general are a few large steps above the BWs in the eastern US.

I stay a few times a year, mainly US, and give them a Best Western guest stay card. Now I think on it, I have NEVER seen a statement with points earned etc!

ozstamps: A veteran traveler like yourself may already know this, but the bestwestern web site shows you your points and the options for using them. I had noticed the lack of mailed statements as well and checked their web site to see what was up. Now I'm happy with what's online. Maybe you will be too? And thanks for all the info you post. A novice like myself learns a lot from it.
