Nice unsolicited upgrade, as they had a Std car on the lot.

Pretty regularly get upgraded at IAH, MSY, and my neighborhood Avis (they know me pretty well at this point though). Typically book full size, receive premium - 300 or MKZ. Did get a convertible mustang and a convertible camaro on booking a full size car on separate occasions!

YYZ Mar 28
Pres. Club
Booked Full Size while at the booth discussing what I could get.

We decided on a 3series, but was offered a Veloster w factory nav, or a Lincoln Navigator (!) "but no better"

Took a 2014 328i xDrive with 250km on the clock.

Not bad for 48$ all in for two days =)

Car confirmation had given me a new Chrysler 300 FWIW. Noticed that after I left.

Seems Avis Canada loves their 300s. Depending how many KM your driving, you should have tried the Navigator. They're very rough riding (they're truck-based and it's obvious) but I really like them. My wife, who loves huge vehicles, can't stand it though.

Maybe we'll get some Velosters in the US. I'd like to try one.

Navigator would never have fit in my spot under my building. That and I don't feel like looking like an airport taxi.

The 328 is a base model, but still very nice and reasonably well equipped. National is cheapening out at YYZ as of late (and don't get me started on Hertz!) so I think Avis has my business for now.

Challenge Accepted:

I have booked compact/ economy and have been upgraded at no charge to a Camaro SS at least 5 times. I booked intermediate in Florida and got upgraded to a loaded Tahoe LTZ.

And I'm only Avis First.

Uhmmm, you do realize that there is a level above President's Club, right? I've had no problem cosistently beating those upgrades. On a side note, I'd rather have a loaded Taurus than an X3.

Yes but Charimans club could take anything on the lot. We're supposed only to have a "double upgrade", not an infinite.

All the other airports Ive been to have been so lame by only giving a double upgrade at max.

Honestly, it just depends on the location. When I was President's Club, prior to Chairman, there was always a wide range of upgrades depending on which location I was renting from. Sometimes they were strict to the guidelines and sometimes they were much more lenient. Good to hear that you have found a location that is on the more lenient side!

Sure, BTW any advise to get to Avis Chairman's?

Problem is, I barely fly annually, and only rent about 8 days worth of cars total.

Saw a whole bunch of new cars at DCA the other day; '15 Volvos, Q50s, '14 BMW X5s, '14 X3s, etc..

They wouldn't upgrade me into the X5.
