Questions for rentals on british airways web site
I often combine an avis rental with a flight purchase on ba.com. I feel the discount I am getting is actually pretty good (used to be terrible). Is it because I do not know a better way of getting better prices out of avis.com?
Anyway, I have two questions:
* Is there a way of getting the same discount by adding a car rental to an existing flight reservation? I do not think this can be done on ba.com, but I was wondering whether one can use an AWD for that purpose.
* I do not need 3rd party insurance, CDW, etc as I have separate insurance. Is there a way for me to save even further by excluding insurance services (these are automatically added when making a reservation on ba.com). The rates I am seeing on the US version of avis.com do not include insurance but they are normally higher than what I see on ba.com.

If the ba.com rate with insurance is cheaper than the avis.com rate without it, I would book on ba.com & enjoy "free" insurance. Filing collision claims with a credit card co. or your own auto insurance co. is a bureaucratic hassle. LDW/ CDW allows one to return the wrecked car & walk away. Not worth US$30/ 18 pounds a day, but I'll thank a car-rental co. to give it to me free
