No Airline Miles At This Avis Location?

I have rented from Avis' DC2 location many times over the past year.

My rental contract always shows my AS frequent flyer number clearly on the RA.

But I never receive any airline miles posted to my airline accounts.

Today I called Avis and they advised me that the downtown Washington
DC location does not offer airline miles.

Does this seem reasonable?

Nowhere in the Avis or Alaska Air promos does it say airline miles "offered at select locations" or "not offered at all locations," or anything similar.

The Avis rep I talked to (Ms. T. Walker) was very polite, and advised that
callers complaining of Avis locations not offering miles was a big cause of Avis Preferred customer unhappiness.

Even the Avis eReceipt for these rentals shows "Frequent miles credited for this rental." When, in fact, no credit is offered.

I know that grumping about 100 miles here an there is probably not a productive use of my time......but I rented at that location and put up with very substandard service (even by DC standards) vs Hertz just to get those miles.

You are quite wrong. Avis stopped offering mileage at off-airport locations long ago.

Airport Locations Only

Thank you for correcting me.

I now see it's airport locations only for Avis.

At least for AC Aeroplan members they still offer 250 miles at off-airport locations in Canada.

That part seems pretty strange.

As so often, YMMV (a more polite way of saying 'You are quite wrong' ).

Using the link you posted, I first checked Virgin Atlantic and found:

I then checked British Airways and found:

Going on, the AF/KL Flying Blue link shows:

True, US airlines are more restrictive. It always pays to check.

I always receive 1,000 VS miles per rental, airport or downtown. Further, I don't have to pay the annoying FF tax.
