It was a de-contented 528...no xDrive, no back-up camera/parking control, no heated seats. At least it had nav, which I think is now standard on the 5 series.

Also had a nice looking Ford Edge and a Dodge Minivan. Offered this and I accepted. Could've used the minivan (large family) and I prefer smaller cars so this was a very nice compromise. My wife loves it so much she wants to drive it all weekend!

ATL seems to always have SUVs up for selection. Other choices were Kia Sorrento, Mazda CX-5, and Toyota Venza. No cars this time.

Received: Ford Taurus Limited (Premium - G) with 900 mi.

Pleasant surprise, as this year i am no longer First, so wasn't expecting an upgrade. Picked up on a Thursday night. The garage was empty of anything lower than a Premium from what i could see. Tons of premium, luxury, and SUVs. Select & Go had 3 Nissan Rogues and a Jeep Patriot.

The Taurus was a great car. Supremely quiet ride. Ridiculous trunk space--could easily fit 2-3 bodies + cinder blocks.

Received: Snagged a 2014 BMW X5 in the upgrade area for an extra $25 a day. I felt that was reasonable. Drove very nice, but definitely not worth 70k!!

I used a voucher from air nz for an upgrade. All I got was an upgrade from an economy section Nissan Micra to a Hyundai i20!!! I think she took the mickey and am thinking about calling up about it. I thought an upgrade would be to a Hyundai i30.

Just wondering if anyone else more experienced thought it was a joke also?

Just called and they've clarified it. Lesson learned! Something about booking x class or a (which I didn't have a clue about as booked it through the airline website as an add on).

Now to change my future booking.......

No other SUVs available according to the Preferred desk. There was a Jeep Patriot in the Select & Go, but settled with the Kia.
