As of 2/12/14: We've had quite a few "Hey, come use this AWD. It's great" type of posts. When the AWD doesn't give a good discount, but is only posted to try to get renters to use the AWD of someone so the poster can earn free days from their Avis Corporate account. From here out, please put the company/trade group/etc that's associated with the AWD or we'll delete the post to keep it on-topic here.

We were asked to produce ID when we picked up our car at Zurich city office - the manager would not let it go without ID as it showed in his system as being 40% discount. In fact, the clerk caught it and called the manager's attention. The manager was extremely polite but also very firm about not giving the discount. He also hinted about people getting codes from internet site and Avis would do audit on unusually high discount - at the end would bill the full rate even after rental...

At the end we switched to a United Airlines code which offered only 15% discount and $100 higher, but was risk-free. The manager was happy also as we had United FF number in the original reservation, so that satisfied him.

Just processed 131 codes for Avis, found at various points in this entire thread (admittedly, I didn't collect all of the codes...who *really* wants to wade thru 80 pages?).

Parameters
Site: www.avis.ca (I'm from Canada)
Rental Location: Calgary
Start Rental Date: 23-Jul-08 09:00AM
End Rental Date: 28-Jul-08 09:00AM
Total: 5 days
Car Type: Premium 4-door
Mileage: Unlimited kilometers
Extra Accessories (GPS/Satellite radio/etc): none
Additional:
  • Loss Damage Waiver - none
  • Personal Accident Insurance - none
  • Personal Effects Protection - none
  • Additional Liability Insurance - none

Here are the results. The "Description" for each code is from the descriptions given in the post it was retrieved from (if there is no description, there was no useful description). Please feel free to make comments/corrrections on codes and descriptions where necessary (ie: Avis employee code, this code is taboo, need ID for this code, etc).

Benchmark: No code (results in finding the lowest price) - 387.70 CAD

Seems to be the first case that K444404 raised flags. I used it in Germany several times at major airport stations and was never asked to provide ID although the contract always showed a 40% discount. CDW, airport fees and unlimited mileage always included.

Question about one of the discount codes listed above.

I'm doing some price investigations for a trip back to Pennsylvania for Christmas this year, and I found this code through Google and this site:

K199060..........Great FL Rates - from major Florida tourism organization - anyone can use..........398.20 CAD
Now, I live in Florida, and am just taking a trip back to PA for a week. Does anyone know if this code is limited only to travel in Florida, or is it really usable for anyone? Has anyone used it and been successful? Was there an ID check required, or any questions asked?

I plugged the code into Avis's online reservation, and it came up with a spectacular rate for a 5 day compact rental of $160.00 USD. I'd love to use this code, and I just want to make sure there won't be any issues if I do.

Any help would be appreciated.

More on Farmers Code...

I went into my profile and changed the code to that of Farmers. No issues. However, I learned when I called to get my Wizard number on the reservation that the code by corporate policy does not allow one to collect FF Miles as part of the rental. Not a big deal but a surprise. They then added my Wizard number and now I should be able to zip through.

Also, I buy the LDW (was cheaper throught the Farmers code trhat to use the one with Free LDW) because I have already been down the road of having to see a co-worker use their personal auto insurance to cover an accident on company time. My company doesn't do the corporate AMEX plan for the insurance and I am not going to carry them for it.

If I have any kind of accident, this could be a problem later on.
Also my Avis preferred renter information and wizard number is not shown on the reservation so I have to go to the counter to check in ???

Anyone have any information what kind of contract they have?
I guess I shall not use this code.

I did a rental using a code that wasn't good for a one way rental.

The SA put in another AWD that matched my rate-$44 for mid-size one day rental (we do one way rentals to LAX instead of bothering friends for rides).

AWD: A7895000

I googled it, but can't find any information on it, but that is what's in my R/A.

Hope someone else can use it.

Need best code for one way from Seattle to Whistler BC

I'm trying to find the best rate for a one way rental from Seattle airport to Whistler British Columbia. I would prefer unlimited mileage. I will also return with a one way from Whistler back to Seattle. We don't need the car while we are in Whistler. Any suggestions for best one way codes?

Thanks,
rob

Information on following AWD codes?

Hi, I'm new here and I'm traveling to Italy in a week. I'm renting a car for a couple of days and I found that these codes give me the best rates. Does anybody know whose corporate codes these are?

N711304
E034803
E034800
E027237
E034815

I called the customer service line and the person I spoke to said that he couldn't tell whose codes they were on his side. Any help would be appreciated. I want to be sure it's ok to use the codes listed above.

Thanks,
clewless

Hi Clewless, Welcome to Flyertalk,

I would strongly suggest that you DON'T call Customer Services with questions like this. Not sure if they can but they may flag your account as trying to use codes you are not permitted to use. If you are allowed to use a code for work reasons etc then you would know what it is and not need to ask.

Just take a look at this thread and try the various codes on here that have been proven to work. Or even try googling the codes.

Seasoned Flyertalkers know that when it comes to getting discounts with cars/hotels or airfares you really don't want to call the company and draw attention to yourself.

Happy renting, Rich

Thanks for the welcome and heads up Aerotec. Fortunately, I didn't disclose any of my information and stated I was just trying to get some info. I've been trying to find information on the codes I found for a couple weeks now. Google only points me to this forum and I can't seem to find any description on the codes. I was just trying to see if someone knew of them off hand since I see a lot of experienced travelers here.

Does the Amex Premium Car Rental Protection protect you even if you HAVE NOT declined car rental company's CDW (i.e. when you buy rental company LDW as well, as you have indicated?). I know that the normal AMEX CDW protection specifically requires you to DECLINE LDW from the car rental company, otherwise it will not come into effect.

Question AWD Codes for LAX

Hi all,

By holding a valid IATA ID Card, what benefits would one receive from car rental firms?

Is this 50 % rate going to raise red flags on Grand Cayman?

I tried a handful of codes and got the following rates for a 6-day rental of an intermediate on Grand Cayman:

No code, plus a few codes that were useless: $269.94 USD

D005297: $242.95 USD

Then I get this ... K444404: $134.97 USD

Will that rate send up a red flag to the clerk at the desk?
