Alert: You have to be logged in at avis.com to be able to specify an Frequent Traveler program. That field (which is now on the Rental Options page) disappears if you try to book without being logged in. (And, obviously, to be able earn an airline or hotel bonus, you have to be able to specify your airline or hotel program!)

Let's use the following format when editing the Wiki:

And yesterday the Aeroplan miles were finally posted for the first two rentals (1/16 and 1/23) - but only 1500 for each of them (500 based plus 1000 bonus).
I am in the same situation with 4 rentals that only posted 1500 miles each time (so missing 12,000 miles).

Did you ever get your missing miles?

How did you resolve?

To pile on this thread, I just finished a rental and followed the directions for the publically available 3,500 maximum Aeroplan bonus AWD. My calculations show that I should net 2,000 points per rental (500 base points, 1,000 for a 2 day weekend rental, 500 for pre-paying through an Avis channel).

My invoice says I'm only getting 500. I e-mailed them through their customer service link but haven't heard a thing.

Same for me. I wonder if it's because certain locations are not participating, but they're not disclosing it.

todd, I'm still waiting for those missing miles from Jan and Feb. Avis got back to me saying "Please note we are required to allow 90 days from the date of submission for these points to be applied to your frequent flyer account." Sounds weird to me, since with Hertz you usually get it posted within 1-2 days after the rental.

Ok, so today I finally got 3000 miles three times - supposedly for January rentals. They are all named "AVIS COURTESY". Not sure what it means... Still waiting for the miles for February...

This is a great code but it states it requires an AWD number and using none, or the 2 I have, won't let you reserve the car.

here's the message: The rate code you entered requires an Avis World Wide Discount (AWD) number. Please go back and enter your AWD number or remove the rate code you entered.

Kinda curious what has been going on with ABG renters. Many of the posted deals have expired. How have people been renting? Going for the useless Avis points? Some other promo?

As for me, my rentals have all been less than 2 days. I also got an email for the very first time on progress to Preferred Plus (I guess for 2018). That was interesting.

Now, there are active Avis/Budget promos for AA (aa.com/carpromo), but it is only 500 miles and requires 5+ day rental AND uses a discount code again (not a coupon code) and it expires on 8/15. Not very useful. The $20 off any rental Visa Checkout has been a much nicer choice (must book by 8/11).

Avis reported pretty bad numbers for their revenue (lower rates and soften business demand). Perhaps that will mean big bonuses starting in a few weeks. I'll update and clean-up the wiki then as I expect there to be some date extensions again.

I used two Avis-Aeroplan promotions for my numerous Avis rentals this year. I am still waiting for some of bonus miles for rentals in March, April, May, June and July - to be posted on my account. The most bizarre thing: two rentals back-to-back, same month, same promotion. One has bonus miles posted, the other one doesn't. And for rentals in July, only base miles are being posted all the time. I emailed Avis CS several times, sent all documentation - only got autoreply. But now when you mentioned Avis's business troubles - it kinda makes sense to me. Of course, it's appalling how easy it is for business to just stop honoring what they had promised. They are so positive that customer have nowhere else to go, that don't even bother pretending to care anymore.

Many of them have not expired, but have either been extended or replaced, but no one had updated the wiki in ages. I just updated for Alaska and a couple hotels, but I don't have time to figure out how fix AA, where the links now send you to totally different promos that what is currently documented for that link.

So go one by one through all the links that aren't marked expired, and in many cases you'll see some sort of current promo, even if the wiki lists an expiration data from the spring.

Me, I haven't been using Avis much lately, because I get a total of 2500 to 5500 UA miles per midsize Hertz rental, 1+ days, and I'm finding the Hertz midsize is often no more or even less than Avis compact for my locations / dates, and Hertz is one of the few ways I can earn sizeable UA miles given that I'm way over 5/24 at Chase.

And I have no reason to add Avis rentals any more since they dropped the rental days option for earning Avis Preferred Plus. I rent a lot of days a year (enough to qualify for Avis First when that existed), but not enough separate rentals and not enough dollar spend to get to Avis Preferred Plus. So why both sticking with Avis as my primary any more?

As I indicated earlier, ABG did not have great earnings numbers so I was waiting to update the wiki until I saw a panic situation. That indeed happened this week. However, the AA 2500/5000 miles promos on 3+ are back to using a custom AWD/BCD which may not be as low as another rate code you have (although, they do indicate 35% off). I believe these are the biggest bonus miles of the year so far in the miles side, and I still think Avis has made a mistake of not doing more promos on 1+ day rentals as they did in previous years because I think they have to do more to increase 1 and 2 day rentals.

Hi guys, I'm new to earning miles with car rentals, I saw the Avis/AA promo por 2.500 bonus miles and I think I will go for it.
From what you're saying I should book it through the Avis page after logging in, right ? (I do not have a user so I will have to create one).
There is a risk of miles not posting if I book directly through the AA link (aa.com/carpromo) ?

Thanks for your help !

Julio

EDIT:
Also, this promo is not limited to 1 use only, right ?
Do you think I can book 2 back-to-back rentals in the same Avis office and earn both bonuses ?
I have a 7-day vacation and I was planning on doing a 4-day rental + a 3-day rental (only going to the office to change contract and cars).

There is not a risk on using avis.com or budget.com directly, here are some links for the same promo:
https://www.avis.com/car-rental/html...ericanway.html
https://www.budget.com/budgetWeb/htm...aaexplore.html

These are special links to avoid the login/not able to enter a AA number issue. Otherwise, you have to have a login (if not using aa or special avis/budget landing pages).

It is not a limited use promo (can do the deal as many times).

I haven't thought about the back to back situation in quite some time. I don't remember what ABG used to do on those 1+ day rental promos, but I think back to back as long as contracts were different (different reservation) appear to have worked. I can't guarantee you get all the bonuses, but I have some suggestions on how to handle back to back.

1) Switch between Avis and Budget side reservations between rentals. In most airports and all off airport (in the US), they are the same location. Almost none of the non-airport locations give miles (if you don't see the $1 a day surcharge in the estimate, it is unlikely you will get any miles).
2) Switch vehicle types reserved.
3) In most airport locations, you return the car one place and go somewhere else to check-out a car. Try not to deal with the same people who can mess around heavily with reservations.
4) Avoid cars that have automated gas reporting, but that might be hard to do if you don't use the app/login.
5) Try to have a full hour gap between when you return a car and end time of your first reservation and when your reservation time start is for your next car. Auto-assignment of cars happens all the time, and there is trouble possible if the system tries to assign you two cars.
6) If you are avoiding using any Wizard or Fastbreak number, on one reservation use maybe just your first initial of your first name, and not your entire name identically on each reservation. They will update appropriately when you check-out the car.

Frankly, I don't think ABG cares that much because they need every rental day they can get. However, I do not how you plan to handle your overseas insurance needs (credit card coverage or LDW paid to ABG).
