Check before signing up for Avis Preferred (Europe)

Check before signing up for Avis Preferred (Europe)
I signed up with my Israeli address. I reached preferred plus fairly fast, and after a few calls to Avis customer support was told that they had verified my rental record and would be processing my change to "preferred plus".
A week or so and several phone calls later, I was told that as I had an Israeli address, and Israel was not part of the Preferred program yet, I would get ZERO benefits. Thank you SO much for making that clear when signing up, absolutely nowhere.
So, I changed my details to show my UK address. All rental records are zeroed out and I begin from scratch.
CHECK before signing up.
