Thumbs down Great car, bad attitude

Had a two day rental in Boston this weekend, rented a premium car - managed to get a white Ford Taurus Limited. Got to agree with every other post on this car that this is a seriously good car, it rides well, handles well (with none of the usual big Ford lean in the corners) and is very well attired with a lovely cabin. Not sure what you guys think but I felt it actually rode better than the CTS, with handling not far behind on average roads.

The attitude of the exit attendant was really rude. I dropped the car off at close to midnight, so had someone come along with me to take me back - we both drove into the Avis lot explaining that the second car was not an Avis car, proceeded to drop the Ford back, and then tried to leave in our own car. The attendant demanded that I give him the receipt from the Ford before he would open the gate to let us exit (to keep, not just to examine).

I am not sure of the exact rules but this has never happened before, so I refused, and had to go into the main Avis office where both the clerk at the counter and the manager both agreed that they did not require my receipt for us to exit...to cut a long story short they called the exit guard and asked him to let us out. However when we got back to the exit gate the guard opened the gate and exclaimed "bunch of idiots"!

Not a pleasant experience

Is this worth an email to Avis?

The guard at the gate may not be an employee of AVIS. I have seen in some locations where the exit person has been outsourced to a third-party. I would definitely write a letter to AVIS.

I would write a letter. I rent at BOS every three weeks or so and actually have not had terrible experience with the exit guard, they've just never been very friendly in general. I am there next week, so I'll see if they have Avis apparel on, I want to say they are third party employees of the port as each rental company appears to have similar layouts there.
