Throwaway ticket
So much for outsourcing...
My new assistant apparently got into the FlyerTalk spirit and booked me a throwaway ticket to BOG (SJO-BOG-PTY) not knowing that a client of mine brought me a third bag I am now lugging around.
Can I take three bags past check-in and through security and attempt to gate check the third one so I retrieve it at BOG? Or I am going to be stuck paying an extra $600 because of this stupid extra bag?
I do have an Avianca reservation in J a week later but that's pretty irrelevant.

Why not just short check the bag to BOG? I've done it on Avianca and Copa many times (although not on a throwaway) when I had need to have my things at the connection city. How long is the supposed layover in BOG?
