75 Minute Connection SQ to OZ, Can I make it?

Hi all,

Was wondering if anyone had any experiences with tight connections at ICN.

I'm flying on SQ 016, which arrives at 4:45PM and then connect to OZ 272, which departs at 6:00PM.

I'm traveling on UA Star Alliance 90k C reward, so I'm afraid if I miss the connecting flight I may have to wait until the next day.

Any ideas on how to make the connection as smooth and pain less as possible. When I check in at SQ in Singapore, do I get a boarding pass all the way through?

I'm sure I can take the earlier SQ flight to ICN, but then I would give up my chance to enjoy the new SQ C product on a 77W, actually I'm still not sure how I scored that award, since I heard those seats usually aren't available for reward.

Any help is appreciated.

75 min is plenty of time in ICN assuming your SQ flight isn't running late.
You'll have enough time to enjoy Concourse A OZ lounge (and possibly shower after a long flight depending on shower queue.)

Not that it really matters, but the earlier SQ 608 flight SIN-ICN has been cancelled until ??June. Perhaps that is also how you ended up on SQ16.

Shouldn't the OP be off to the main concourse for their OZ flight?

Yes, SQ 608 was cancelled.

So if I understand things correctly SQ lands on the island concourse and I have to take a train to my connecting OZ flight in the main terminal, will SQ issue me a OZ boarding pass since it's a star alliance partner and this is all one ticket? I ask this becuase on one previous trip when I flew THAI to SQ, Thai couldn't issue the boaridng pass.... any insight?

[b]sfo to bkk[/], when is your trip?
I'm in the same situation, except that I decided to take a longer layover. Was just contemplating whether I was willing to chance it on the shorter connection when SQ608 cancelled and I was moved to 016. In the end I decided that rather than ruining my rather long trip at the 1st-2nd segment, I'd suck it up, enjoy the 77W, and take a leisurely connection in the OZ lounge. (I was looking at a 70 minute connection but the schedule change took it off the table as now I arrive an hour later anyway).
That may not be an option since there's only the one SEA flight--but could you consider SFO or LAX? Because both have multiple flights/day, it seems like the later flight's avails have been pretty good, and that gives you a longer connection (OK, slightly too long at 3.5 hours, but it may help your peace of mind)

Edited to add:

I passed through ICN unexpectedly recently and was surprised that the transit security line was looong. I was definitely in line for 30 minutes, which is enough that it would make me nervous taking a 60-70 minute connection. But technically it is over the MCT, so they should find a way to accomodate you if the lines are insane. Not sure where transit security lines are in the satellite concourse, or if you shuttle back to the main terminal and clear there. Sorry.

Unfortunatly, at the time of ticketing the UA award, the only available option was the SEA flight. My actual final destination is SFO. The SFO flight doesn't operate on Saturdays.

I just checked the ANA tool and there is now availability on the later LAX flight. I wouldn't mind connecting through LAX but I'm not ready to part with a $150 change fee, actually $300 in my case since it's two tickets. It's a bit steep. Well, if I miss the UA connection, perhaps UA will reroute me through LAX. The UA system automatically files a "flight protection" to rebook you on alternate flights if you miss a connection right? Thats what happened to me in the past.

Ugh--sorry, didn't realize you would get dinged for the fees. I basically kept 1K status only to save these fees, they're so valuable to me for situations like this.
I don't think UA will automatically reroute you given that it's another airline's connection, but I'm more confident that OZ will if you misconnect in ICN. On the other hand, it's most likely that you will make it with 75 mins, anyway. Weather is rarely an obstacle most times of the year, and if the flight looks severely delayed out of SIN you can always ask SQ to put you on the all-C nonstop to LAX

yeah, I'd love to be 1k, but I don't get to fly very often, though I have done quite well with the miles game collecting a couple 90k C class awards from using CCs and the now nonexistent Ameniti. Now that the redemption levels are so much higher, I think this will be our last trip in C. It was great while it lasted.

A 75 min connection should do it. I have done OZ to SQ on a 45 or 50 min window. Went from the main concourse to the island, so I assume you would have to do the opposite. I was told by OZ that they could not issue SQ tik, and had to get it from the SQ desk at ICN. Make sure you have a copy of your e-tik handy when you go through the security line.
