ICN Lounge access for Domestic flights?

I will be flying out of ICN to Busan on OZ. (Yes, out of ICN on OZ, not GMP which uses the code shares on Air Busan). The prior posts state that the lounges are after immigration. Having never been to ICN before, (I arrive the evening prior on UA and hoteling the night near ICN) do I get *Gold lounge access somehow - do all domestic passengers have to pass through immigration?

Thanks,

You don't pass through immigration after you check in at the domestic counters, so you don't get access to the main departures where the lounges are.

There are no lounges in the domestic section. But since you only need to be there about 30 minutes before your flight, I would just leave the hotel as late as possible.

Update on the hot food situation. Today I went to the main concourse OZ lounge at 3PM there was no hot food there and I asked and was told there is no hot food in the afternoon and I'd have to wait until 6PM. I then went to the concourse A OZ lounge and they had hot food out already, fried rice, pork cutlet and soup. So there's definitely a difference between the two lounges with respect to hot food.

The main concourse lounge was almost empty while the concourse A lounge had more people but still quite light. Sfter 6PM my experience is that the main concourse lounge gets very busy but not so busy for the concourse A lounge.

So when you are in transit on an OZ flight, is the OZ lounge in the Main Terminal or terminal A? Also, is there a problem going into the lounge upon arrival (5:30am), resting for a few hours and then exiting the airport to take a transit tour or go into Seoul?

Thanks!

All *A lounges are run by OZ in ICN. If you transfer from a foreign carrier to another foreign carrier, you never leave Concourse A therefore You will be using Concourse A OZ lounge.

If you are transfer from a foreign carrier to OZ, you go to main terminal and transfer from OZ to OZ, you will also be in main terminal.

ICN is not like SIN where departing and arriving passengers mingle. Departure and arrival area are separated like NRT meaning you can't use the lounge before you go into Seoul. Note that there's no arrival lounge in ICN.

Ok, you just confused me. So, i'm traveling on OZ and will connect to an OZ flight. I arrive at 5:30. What can I do? It seems pretty early to go into Seoul. If i do go into Seoul or get a transit hotel for a few hours, can I go to the OZ before my next flight (which leaves at 19:35)?

Thanks for the help! Gee, I thought i was prepared! I leave in 30 days!

If you are on OZ and connect to another OZ flight, your flight will be arriving at main terminal. Your next OZ flight leaves at 19:35 from main terminal, so you have two options.

1. Clear immigration upon disembarking and go to Seoul without resting in the lounge first as this is not possible.

2. Go to transfer security check point and enter departing area and rest in the lounge until your next flight.

Of course, once you come back to ICN after your tour, you will get lounge access.

I thought you wanted to rest in OZ lounge for a couple of hours upon arriving in ICN and go to downtown. This is not possible. That's what I meant.

I have the same situation. I thought we could use the transfer security check point and head to the lounge for a couple of hours. Then exit the airport and take a transit tour. We would go through security again when we return from the tour. Is this not possible?

Departure and arrival areas are separated by a floor not like SIN where departing and arriving passengers mingle. You only have two options like I have stated above.

Are you stating that we can't go through the transfer desk and visit the lounge for a couple of hours and then leave the departure area/airport and have a tour? We would go through security again when we return from our city tour. Thanks for your input.

One more update on the times hot food is served at the OZ lounges as per their staff.

Main concourse OZ lounge 3 times per day:
07:30 (not 100% sure about this time)
12:00
18:00

Concourse A OZ lounge 4 times per day:
07:30
12:30
15:30
17:30

They only prepare a fixed quantity of food at both lounges and once the food is gone they will not prepare anymore until the next serving time.

I wonder which airport you had travelled allow you to do this ?

Most airport in the world, international arrivals and departure are totally separate, even if they are at the same level, they are always separate by a wall, absolute no way to get out once you are inside the departure hall, especially those you have to pass through immigration first.

Other than ICN, I also know HKG and NRT has the same design, as well as YVR and YYZ in Canada. US airports are a little different, you don't need to go through immigration for int'l departures, but still security would not allow you to get past security for a flight that leaves 10 hours later.

ICN does have separate arrival and departure levels, but they actively promote their transit tours and based on others' comments make it very easy for someone who is in the departure area to take a transit tour and then return.

See here for some more details and a map of the two transit desks inside the the departure area on the main concourse:
http://english.visitkorea.or.kr/enu/SI/SI_EN_3_5_1.jsp

There's a wide selection of various transit tours varying from one hour to all day. There's no reason why you shouldn't be able to transfer as normal, go to the transit tour desk and make a reservation if you haven't already, then go to the lounge and relax until it's time for your transit tour. Take the tour, then come back and return to the lounge.
