Increased LH surcharges when booked with Asiana miles
Just have noticed that the surcharges on LH flights when redeeming Asiana and Aeroplan miles have increased drastically (x 2!). Last time I checked a month or two ago, and the LH surcharges were much less when redeeming partners miles. Now, it looks like they are the same as if redeeming LH miles

I have some Asiana miles that I'd like to redeem for a *A LH for myself and a companion. My friend is not a family member.
Is the process like most programs where not an issue?

To use Asiana miles on another person, they MUST be registered as immediate family (with birth certificate, marriage license etc). You cannot use Asiana miles on another person in any other way.

Does anyone know the full list of airlines that don't have fuel surcharges using Asiana miles? UA for sure doesn't, but I'm not sure about any other carriers. Perhaps SK, TK, Brussels, and TAP don't have any either? I think all the LH group carriers are the worst in terms of that, perhaps other than Brussels. Over the phone Asiana club only mentioned United as not having fuel surcharges.

But SQ is only doing that for their own members. No guarantee of that passing on to Asiana Club too. For example, with United miles, you can book almost anything without fuel surcharges. Another example is with LH, with Miles & More the fuel surcharges I paid were only about 1/2 of what I paid with Asiana Club for a biz class redemption.
