Oz 271 & 271 sea icn sea

Flying out on 7-8 returning 8-24. I check my res. Today and it seems the planes changed to 777-200 with business smartium class! Is this permanent change? Wow finally lie flat seats on sea icn route.^ seat assignment all messed up now!

This must have something to do with upgrading JFK flight to A380, then move the 3-class 777 to LAX route, and finally move the 2-cabin 777 to SEA route...

Will this change be at least seasonal if not year-round? I always wonder if there is enough demand for the nonstop to ICN from SEA with both OZ & KE operating the route.

You can check which config was used for most of the past flights in flightstats.com. Put airline, flight number and date, and then click "event timeline". It shows which fleet was used. It appears that recent SEA flights were quite random, from oldest type to the newest 3-class. It's just down to the luck now.

Angled flat, no AVOD (loop PTV): HL 7500 (retired few weeks ago), 7596, 7597
Lie flat, 2-class: HL 7700, 7732, 7739, 7755, 7756
Angled flat, 3-class: HL 7775, 7791 (mostly to ORD)
Lie flat, 3-class: HL 8254, 8284 (mostly to LAX)

It looks like it's just for the summer - maybe it has to do with summer demand on the route, since the 777 is configured to take about 20 more pax. Looking at Matrix, it appears that starting October 24, OZ 271/272 are back to A330 equipment.

Mmm...I am conflicted.

Some time ago I booked an award trip SEA-SFO-ICN (which was NOT easy to snag), specifically to get the lie-flat business smartium seats on the TPAC. What I really wanted was the SEA-ICN nonstop with the good business class interior, but knowing the configuration of the SEA-ICN flights versus the SFO-ICN, I went for the extra leg (even though it complicates the trip somewhat). So when I saw this thread, my first reaction was "dagnabbit!!! now I need to see if I can change the routing!" But...no, the flight is end of January, so it sounds like the SEA-ICN flights then will probably be (or at least possibly be) angled-flat old business class. As I understand it, the SFO-ICN flight we already have (OZ211) is almost certainly business smartium (notwithstanding some mechanical issue that forces an equipment swap). Oh well, I guess I'll stick with my original routing.

Can you confirm if these are the latest configs?

HL7700, 7732, 7739, 7755, 7756 are all business smartium with AVOD?

If lie-flat, I may take OZ 271 and connect with OZ 116 (ICN - KIX, showing 763er) this summer, all in biz using miles. The connection time at ICN is 1 hour and 20 min. As a US passport holder, is this at all do-able? Better to spend a night at an airport hotel?

TIA

1:20 in J is very doable-just get off the first flight quickly and head to transit security at a brisk pace (I've managed to do a 45-minute connection and take a shower at the lounge)

I've done a 20min(late takeoff) transit at ICN and the security line was packed!
Fortunately, KE held back plane departure due to connecting pax.

Anyway, on ICN-SEA, recently, i saw that OZ is using their 777 planes.
Are the OZ 777 planes all using AVOD or the old PTV in Economy?
I had one flight with the old PTV and that was bad...

Thanks!

LAX
Maybe the KE flights cater to passengers with onward connecting US flights in SEA via DL?

Yes, this is the latest info. Those five are indeed "77L" - smartium and AVOD on all classes running for SFO LHR and SEA (or SYD from winter).

Two dark ones (7500s) will leave by next year, and they are supposed to go CDG and FCO only, but whenever one aircraft goes mech or maintenance, things rapidly become ugly.

did sea-icn last month. it was 777, sea was in y and icn-sea was in j (with lie flat seats)
i have done this trip many times before but it was always on Airbus..

apart from the lie flat seats.. i think 777 are horrible (specially in y). im not sure. .but feels they are older than airbus.. rattle like crazy during takeoff and landing..

i booked another flight for nov.. shows airbus on reservation.
