At present, yes, unless there is an unscheduled aircraft substitution.

I am flying from NYC to ICN in 2 weeks. Pretty excited for the flight, I am still curious about the lounge? Is there no LH-Lounge/F access for flights on OZ?

F/J/*Gold Y they are going to send you to the Swiss lounge. From what I gather though is that during the time of day of the OZ flights that the F side of the LX lounge is not yet open.

Correct, and the C side is absolutely nothing to get excited about. So don't get to the airport earlier than you need to with the idea that you will enjoy the lounge.

On the upside, there is plenty of room as OZ is mostly the only flight using the Swiss J lounge during this time. But like others said, the food, drinks and amenities are not noteworthy, but the lounge keeps you away from a busy boarding gate and is rather close to the boarding gate (5-7 min walk).

Don't dismay...the real service begins when you step onboard the plane!

Thanks for the replies. I am actually changing my plans and flying to JFK routing through to ICN. My wife thinks I am crazy!! . I kind of agree, but a 32" TV in my own suite sounds crazy good.

Your not crazy. I made a rather inconvenient routing from DFW (which has 2 direct flights on AA & KE) which required an overnight at JFK in order to get the OZ suite experience. It was worth every bit of the effort. Sometimes the journey is just as much fun as the destination!

Are there any plans to remove the F cabin from this route anytime soon?

Working on bringing the TR to FT, but in the meantime, I wrote a TR of JFK-ICN http://hackmytrip.com/2014/03/review...ew-york-seoul/

Nice to see the photos on the TR…love the condescending attitude about the cheap airline flying first class on a free ticket.

But with that aside…in regards to the lounge isn't it because at that time there would be no Swiss F Pax at JFK and OZ and LX couldn't compromise on cost/etc for staffing a lounge for potentially 8 people?

Is it that the airline is cheap that they can't serve booze on the ground or something with regulations? I thought I had read that there was another airline that doesn't serve alcohol on the ground in the US.

No taxes have to be paid on alcohol served in the air. Tax paid bottles only can be used on the ground.

OZ declines to buy taxed liquor so can't serve any on the ground.

The LX lounge does suck. Even the F side isn't very good.

Hopefully when the A380 comes on line into JFK, OZ will source another lounge.

Trips paid with miles are far from free. Miles most certainly have a value. There is nothing wrong with commenting on the service and amenities when flying on a mileage ticket.

As to the trip report, I have Global Entry and if departing T4 on DL, I get PreCheck. Suddenly, because I am on OZ, I become a potential terrorist and am no longer eligible for PreCheck. Pure stupidity. When flying OZ, DHS has my passport number, full name, and date of birth. They know who I am but penalize me for flying a foreign carrier.

As to the monitors, some of the ISV movies are marked "HD". Only a few, however.

Oh I understand, I am flying JFK-ICN F in just over a month, very excited about it. I don't think my first reactions would be about the cheapskates they are because I get 1-2 less glasses of champagne and am confined to a specific airline lounge. But hey, FlyerTalk: Different strokes for different folks!

Free? I'm not a non-revenue passenger. I paid with miles. Besides, it's the same experience for the executive whose company paid $10,000+ across the aisle. (edit: and there were 3 free seats, so it's not like I displaced a $10,000+ passenger).

Well, SQ gives its Suites passengers access to the VS Clubhouse (though they have a separate partnership). The SWISS Biz lounge is simply not up to snuff for a First Class passenger, especially on an important route (it has to be important if they gave the route suites).

Hmmm, didn't notice that. I'll take your word.

My post isn't in a vacuum but rather giving a report to what Asiana offers and doesn't offer compared to other First Class carriers that I've flown, like Singapore (from US), Thai, Lufthansa (from US), Cathay Pacific (from US), SWISS, Emirates, and even United! Asiana's ground experience pales in comparison to many of those airlines.

Asiana's main competitor is Korean Air, which flies JFK-ICN on A380 aircraft. They have a separate F lounge at JFK with an escort to the plane, although they only have water/juice on the ground as well.

I mean, when I board Delta CRJ First Class to finish up a long week, I like ordering a Woodford Reserve to kick back and relax before takeoff. I can't even get something remotely similar on Asiana international First. Whether I drink or not isn't the question, the fact that there should be an option is.

I understand, perhaps I'm jaded by the internet and reading everything that is negative way too harsh.

OZ only has the 1 flight out of JFK a day though right? Maybe if they ended up doing two flights they may up the ante? Sort of like how NH used the BA lounge with separate F & J parts?
