Welcome to FT. I believe the best way to get the most miles from Lax to Tpe is with a RTW (round the world) ticket. For example: You can fly LAX/ZRH and ZRH to TPE/LAX Look at the various airline programs on the FT Site. You haven't mentioned on which airline, or airline program you want to earn the miles.
Obviously, going through Europe will get you more miles. LAX-LHR-BKK is 3,000 more miles than LAX-NRT-BKK, for example. You do pay more for travel via Europe though.
