Indonesia holidays, days to avoid Sept-Oct?

Hi, are there holidays (like Golden Week in China) or other days that are best to avoid when traveling to and within Indonesia in Sept-October this year?

Where in Indonesia? Bali is like different country.

Generally it is advisable to avoid Ramadan time, if you are not used to call to pray blasting out of loudspeakers at 3AM in the morning.

Muslims pray 5 times a day and the call to prayer is done 5 times a day...including before dawn at 5am-6am.

This is nothing new.

Ramadan is a period where muslims fast and do not consume food or water from dawn to dusk prior to the celebration of Hari Raya Adilfitri for 2 days when everyone goes back home to their villages, towns, cities and is not a good time to perhaps visit as its a busy period of travel.

There are other islamic public holidays on throughout the year, usually just 1 day. Do a check on ďndonesian public holidays on goggle to get these dates.

Generally it does not affect hotels, travel and so forth, especially for the short 1 day public holidays. Life still goes on as per normal.

A little things to add some points made by Wolf72:

It's fine to travel at early days Ramadhan. Just avoid a week before Idul Fitri and a week after it. Other peaks are school holidays in late December and June/July.

Long weekends are also best to avoid: in Sep are 1st weekend (Idul Adha) and 4th weekend (Islamic New Year). On peaks and long weekends you wont really enjoy Bali for obvious reason.

Wakatobi is growing some popularity but it's still considered off beaten path. October would be good time for underwater activity. No public holiday either
