Actually, I highly appreciate Hoian. This place is not too touristy. Besides, many traditional cultures and ancient constructions are still maintained; local people are friendly; especially the atmosphere of night market makes a deep impression on me. You will see many unique things if walking around the Ancient Town in this market. You can hire a hotel in La Hoi street that is quite sparking with many lanterns hanged along the two sides of the street. Anyway, I think old people will interested in this small town.
