Vietnam - transport from Ho Chi Minh to the Grand Ho Tram

I was thinking of visiting the Grand Ho Tram (have a cday and a half to spare) and was wondering -

How best to get there ? If I don't stay at the grand, can I still use their bus (to get to the casino) ?

If I don't stay there, what is public transport like in the nearby area ?

Thanks -

There is both hydrofoil and bus services from Saigon to Vung Tau. To the best of my knowledge, those hydrofoils are really really old reconditioned Russian craft!

The distance between Vung Tau and the Grand Ho Tram is about 30 miles. As far as I know, you need to be a guest at the Grand Ho Tram to use their bus service from HCMC. If you intend to use the hydrofoil service between HCMC and Vung Tau, be advised that the boarding location is no longer in District 1 (near the Majestic Hotel) but is now in District 4

The Grand is located 2 hours by car from Ho Chi Minh City. The closest airport is Ho Chi Minh’s Tan Son Nhat International Airport, which offers a variety of direct-connect options to the Ho Tram Strip. You can check out http://www.thegrandhotram.com/location/

It is quite convenient to move from HCM city to Ho Tram. First, with a motorbike, you follow the highway 51 - Ba Ria Vung Tau (highway 55) - Xuyen Moc - Ba To market - Ho Tram - Ho Coc. The second way is catch a coach; there are many coaches per day from HCM city to Mien Dong station (Vung Tau) with the price of 100,000 VND (5USD)
đồng/người). Besides, you can hire a hydrofoil with the price of 200,000 VND (10USD), which will take you about 90 mins.
