Where is reasonably dry & sunny in August?

Bali and other places of similar latitude in Indonesia in August are like Thailand is in January. I haven't been to Darwin, but Cairns is nice then as well.

In Thailand, Ko Samet is said to have a dry microclimate.

I also liked the Perhentians in Malaysia a lot (off the east coast) and went during a summer. It was sunny but it's always humid.

Singapore is pretty much the same year-round. U can spend hotel points if you have and not feel like you're missing out on a better climate some other time of the year.

July and August are the big travel periods for Java and destinations east. it's a great time, weather wise, to get out to Komodo, Flores and points further afield.
