I'm trying to plan travel from HKT->REP->HKG next spring and ticket prices seemed really high (in particularly REP-> HKG was > $1k). are there discount carriers i shoudl be looking at? is this something i should be trying to use miles for? would appreciate any suggestions
thanks!

Air Asia have a multi ticket air pass which was great value and would probably fit the bill although HKG would need to be ticketed separately. OW between BKK and HKG is around 10K miles and $20. This option could open a world of opportunities.

thanks. so i was able to use avios on dragonair in what was perhaps the most profitable $/point conversion i will ever execute. now just need to figure out HKT->REP (or i'm guessing HKT to hub to REP). not sure if the air asia pass still makes sense for only one segment

I would think it will be HKT to either BKK or KUL then on to REP. We did REP this year so if you need any suggestions, info let me know by PM.

Depending upon when your flight is PG seems to have HKT-BKK-REP for about $200 most days. Might be cheaper to use Nok and Air Asia but then again it might not.
Or fly to KUL which should run ~$80 o/w and then use Avios. I know KUL-PNH falls into the 4500pt category and I'm pretty sure REP does as well.

There's a JAL promo ongoing but I'm not sure you can book a o/w flight.
