SeaCat vs Buquebus?

Traveling over to Monteviedo durning my next stay in Argentina. I booked with SeaCat R/T from Puerto Madero via Colonia then Bus to MVD. Cost was $182 ARG Pesos all in. A steep discount over Buquebus. Was unable to book online but a quick call to the reservation desk ( via Skype in Spanish ) and viola, my E Ticket was issued while I was on the line. Wanted others to know about this ( I understand that they use the Buquebus Terminal in Puerto Madero, same buses in Uruguay and sometimes if the loads are low your on a Buquebus for the over the water portion as well ) SeaCat is an offshoot company of Buquebus so your in the same family. Has anyone had any experience with this? Thanks and Safe Travels

Any recent comparisons with SeaCat, Buquebus and ColoniaExpress ferries? Is it an interesting bus ride from Colonia to Montevideo if I choose the fastferry/bus option rather than direct ferry BA to MVD? Is the road smooth? Appreciate any recommendations. Thanks.

I like SeaCat as they are a fraction of the cost of Buquebus, uses the same terminals and buses (sister company). Road from Colonia to MVD is smooth and fast. Mostly farmland and takes about 2 hours or so.. You end up at Tres Cruces Terminal in MVD.

There is a new Buquebus Boat named after the Pope (Pablo) it seems really nice and modern. Caters to Businessmen and is quite costly.

Have not heard good things about Colonia Express..

Safe Travels..

I did BA-MVD on Buquebus (Francisco, not Pablo ;-)) last December, the ferry was nice and fast, cruising speed was 60 mph on my gps device. Check the price on BuqueBus.com, I paid around 600 ARS for OW, it will be a little cheaper if you use ColoniaExpress and you may save u$s40~60 but it will be 4:30 hour trip (vs 2:15 on Francisco).
