On 9/28 VS44 went to JFK before continuing to LGW does anyone know why? This was not an inflight diversion as according to Flightaware it was scheduled this way before the flight levt LAS

Looks like the flight was 3 hours late out of LAS (8 pm instead of 5pm) and 5.5. hours late into LGW so this would be a 1.5 quick detour to JFK. Inbound into LAS was on time. Also the flight knew it was heading to JKF long before departure time.
Suspect there was a technical fault on something required for TALT flight segment so the plane flew to JKF where there is more VS support compared with LAS. Cannot have been too serious given the quick turnaround in JFK.
