Just wondering if anyone could suggest which would be the best route to try out ANA's new First Class Suite JFK/SFO/LAX or ORD to NRT ? Any suggestions or thoughts would be extremely helpful ?

Thanks

I think the first question I have to ask you is are you paying or using miles ?

If you are using miles, I suggest you find the availability before you ask further, as F awards are not easy to get on all routes and dates.

I've done every route you've mentioned and my favourite is ORD. The flight leaves ORD in the late AM so have a nice lunch with about 3 hours of daytime with shades up. It then gets dark so watch the AVOD a few hours, sleep about 6 hours, and land in Japan.
On the way back, it's basically the same routine.

Leaving JFK is also about the same distance and routine. But JFK as an airport is, well..............

Leaving the WEST coast means a flight that's about 3 hours shorter and you'll be in dark skies for almost the whole flight. In fact, when leaving NRT to LAX and SFO, you'll be in dark skies about 10 minutes after takeoff. I prefer at least a few hours of daylight with the shades open.

If you want to take any pics, do JFK or ORD so you'll have natural light in the cabin.

I strongly suggest row 2.

They still have an excellent F product even though it's been several years since it was introduced. I do think the new JAL suite is more private and a tad more comfy.

ENJOY.:D

I only do SFO-NRT vv, and given that the flight leaves SFO around or before noon, you will not be in dark skies for almost the whole flight. In fact, quite the opposite. On the return, it is true that a good part of the flight takes place in the dark.

Given that you're in daylight for the entire SFO-NRT, I think it's great. You have a nice lunch after takeoff and can (and probably should) stay awake for the whole 10+ hours. Sample more of the menu, indulge in some champagne, try out the improved (but still wanting) IFE...

I happen to like JFK, especially terminal 7. You'll use the BA Terraces Lounge (or the UA IFL), both of which are very nice. I fly UA JFK-SFO monthly and think the security at JFK T7 is as efficient as any I've seen. The Airtrain stops across the street, and I have made the trip from T7 to my apt on the West Side in as little as 55 minutes. ORD gives me a headache. But that's why Baskin-Robbins makes 31 flavors, I guess. :D

You're right about the ex-USA portion being in daylight - I was thinking about the ex-Japan portion.

The Concorde lounge at JFK used to be great! But that's history now. I guess those BA lounges put me off with the crowds always there and the rubbish food in their "F" lounge.
