Other than Emirates, which airlines stop in Dubai? We plan to stay in Dubai for a few days.
For Nov last week travel, Emirates quotes $1700 per ticket which I think is a little bit on the expensive side. Are there any dates I should avoid?

I'm seeing Emirates around 1550 USD, AA/BA/CX/IT combos for ~1500 USD. Probably varies wildly with specific dates, though.

Of course Emirates, which has excellent service to many Indian cities, does not fly to Chicago.
On the other hand, Etihad does fly to Chicago, but it does not fly to BLR, only MAA.
The distance between Abu Dhabi and Dubai is less than 100 miles (71 miles straight line between airports), but transferring is a pain. If you are staying a few days, though, it may not be so bad.

excellent suggestion. the best way to ticket this seems to be as 3 one ways.
EY: ORD-AUH $680
AI: DXB-BOM-BLR $145 or EK DXB-BLR $333
BLR-ORD many options, from $600-700 (2 stops vs. 1 stop)
So, yeah you could get this as low as ~$1450 (or maybe even less).

Is there a website that I can use that gives different fares on different dates around the dates of departure/arrival ? My dates are flexible and I would like to check which dates give me the best fare. Kayak does give me this information on the home page but I cannot filter by airlines to see only Emirates.

Mr Bean - Thanks for the help. Can you tell me where you are seeing these prices?

for getting everything on one itinerary, i did a specific dates search on ita plugging in random dates around the last week of november.
to book, you can try the same search on orbitz, priceline, travelocity, expedia, etc. and see if they pull up the fares. if not, try with a travel agent.
kalia makes a good suggestion for minimizing connections, if you can travel through AUH.

UA has an IAD-DXB flight. It would add a stop, but you can do ORD-IAD-DXB. Others have offered ideas on how to get from DXB to BLR. I have not checked recently, but the IAD-DXB flight usually is pretty cheap.

Not if you want to do a one-way.
Etihad is offering ORD-AUH-DXB for $680 as well, with the AUH-DXB as bus service...

DL has a similar option from ATL I think.
