Trying to book IST - JFK (14th November) then JFK - MAD (26th November) in Business. Iberia comes up among the cheapest fares. On Kayak I am clicked through to Terminal A, where Iberia shows at 1961 Euros. Expedia shows 2886 USD for the same flights. About 1967 Euros at current exchange rate.

But the Iberia.com site shows 11,773 Turkish Lire which the web site works out to 5,364 Euros!! XE.com, a forex site, confirms this conversion rate.

What gives??

IB frequently don't bother to offer their D fares on their own site. Why is a mystery. :)

Despite Iberia advertising the cheapest fares I usually find MUCH cheaper ones on sites like Travelocity. When I questioned Iberia via the Gold Card email address, surprise surprise they did not answer.....

Thanks to Alan and Harry for the advice. After checking all the usual suspects (TerminalA.com, itasoftware.com, Expedia) I booked on Travelocity for just under 2000 Euros, all in. Iberia was 100 Euros more expensive than Alitalia, but the return to Madrid is direct, not via Rome, and Iberia has its defects, but not nearly as many as Alitalia. ;) I consider this a reasonable fare.

Any hints on seats on Iberia's A 340 will be gratefully received. For the nonce, I am in 1H. I have already checked SeatGuru and SeatExpert.
