Virgin flying club - How to get award if starting from Europe?

I'd like to redeem my hard earned points on VS. Have been a member for almost 6 years now but have never redeemed an award. But as I'm based in Europe, I'm wondering if I can start my trip from there (ie HAJ, AMS) using a partner eg BD, and then connecting in LHR to South Africa.
Is this possible? Or is everything centred on departing only from LHR and how I get there is not FC's problem?

If you can access a BMI-LHR route then yes, you'll be able to spend Virgin FC miles on a connecting flight to Heathrow.
Call Flying Club to see if you can do that?
If you are not on a BMI route then Virgin will book you onto another connecting flight / airline and link it to your Virgin Atlantic booking - but this will be a paid flight.

Thx. Most likely it will be AMS-LHR-CPT if possible. I want to avoid the ADP as much as I can. Don't know if VS will consider this routing 'originating' from LHR if its on a connecting flight, whether paid or redeemed?
Otherwise I'll save my miles a little bit more and redeem on MH in F from asia to Europe or South America.
I currently have 131+ K miles. I only need 45K more for the MH F to South America, and only 15K more to europe from asia. So I guess its doable ...
