Avis - Discount Code=No Avis First credit

I've been tracking down why I haven't received a weekend cert for awhile. After numerous calls I talked with a CS supervisor and he says using the
D005297 code causes the system to not recognize it as a "qualifying rental." Twice he has requested for marketing to override, but no success. Not only that, as of now, I won't qualify for Avis First although I have some 20+ rentals for 90 days.
I've used this code since its been out and have always had my rentals count.
My future business with Avis may stop ,if this doesn't get fixed.
By the way, he said it's an AA employee discount. That's a new one on me.

I know if you use any coupon with a free day as part of the rental, it's usually considered to not qualify toward a free weekend, even if you pay for two days.

As to requalifying for AF, I believe there is a difference between rentals that qualify toward a free weekend and those that qualify toward AF status. I believe you will still requalify for AF if you have 10+ paid rentals. If others know differently, please chime in.

Of course, you seem displeased enough w/ Avis, you may not care.

I was told that most of my rentals don't qualify for qualification of AF because of the discount code. The only way is a system override.

So I dont understand...

You were just told that it was an American Airlines Employee Discount code (which I assume you're not technically eligible for), and you've been using it for years. But, now they don't qualify you for AVIS first. So you're threatening to take your business elsewhere because this discount code now is ineligible for AVIS First qualification?

Have you tried a different AWD code? One that you might actually qualify for? Or one that your company provides, if they do such a thing?

I've understood D005297 as the code the Amateur Athletic Assoc. (or something like that). It was a different number a few years ago and changed to this. I, and many others, have used this often without a hitch.
Apparently, it's either not that group's number or the CS manager was wrong. Either way, their computer system does not recognize this code as qualified Avis First rentals. This goes for the free weekend coupons and for requalification.
In case you didn't notice, there's a very long thread here with discount codes. You may not use them, but many do.
My information is as a warning. My statement that I will probably move elsewhere is based being discounted for future elite status after some 20+ rentals for almost 100 days.
I'm making one more call to the CS supervisor (who seems helpful) to see if marketing is going to reverse their position. If not, I'll probably book with someone else today.
