Turkish Airlines Miles&Smiles - transferring from international to domestic terminal in IST

Hi - was wondering how much time is needed to transfer from an incoming international flight (Air France) to a domestic TK flight to Izmir?

Also, if I ended up missing my TK flight, would they just put me on the next flight (assuming there were empty seats) or would there be a lot of fees involved?

Thanks!

It really doesn't take long as the national and international terminals are side by side and connected by a walkway. It can be done in an hour if everything goes smoothly, however, there are enough uncertainties (immigration, luggage and delayed flight) that I allow for 3 hours when I am travelling on 2 separate tickets.

I suffered delays of more than an hour on all my flights the last 2 months to and from Istanbul, while my girlfriend waited 3 hours for one of her flights to Izmir. I now only use flexible business tickets from TK for domestic travel in Turkey, and rebook on an earlier flight if possible. Don't expect any help if you have an economy ticket and miss your flight.

As AHN mentioned it should be OK. I would recommend that if your flight arrives early in the morning you should make sure you have extra time as the immigration lineups can be over an hour. Later in the day it seems to be less of a problem.

I'm wondering about the reverse. How much time should I allow to transfer from a domestic flight on Turkish Airlines arriving in IST (from ASR or NAV) to a BA flight from IST (to LHR)?

Ignore question. I found answer in a later thread.
