I was just wondering how the A-Club membership level works?

- Do the points reset at some stage?
- When you have reached Silver/Gold/Platinum will you be taken back to the basic level after certain number of months (i.e. 12+ months) or is it a soft landing to the level just below the current one?
- Do you just need one night a year to keep you current level alive within a certain period?

I have tried to look for the info, but having the patience of a 5 yo I gave up pretty quickly :(

Thanks,

F

At the moment we really only have the letter of the terms and conditions to go by. In the near future people that were granted various status up front will likely be able to start reporting on the practical aspects of how it is implemented.

Anyway, the relevant portion of the Terms and Conditions it says:

The Member’s status changes when he or she satisfies the conditions for obtaining another level, as described below. The new status is valid for a period of 12 months (365 days). The Member’s current status is renewed if, at the end of this 12 month period, the Member still satisfies the conditions for said status. If the Member no longer satisfies the conditions for the current status level over the following 12 month period, then he or she receives the status level that corresponds to his or her activity (according to the schedule provided below) at the end of the said period.

So, from what I can see, you will have a status expiry date, 12 months from when you achieve a certain level. When that date arrives they look back at the previous twelve months and determine your new level based on that. I guess that could range anything from all your points disappearing (if you had no activity at all), through to retaining your current status.

It reads as though if you do achieve the hurdle at any point in the previous twelve months you get an extra twelve months.

Of course, on top of all that there could be any manner of promotions, fast tracks etc.

This is still clear as mud (The Terms and Conditions you copied over, not your explanation :) )

So let's say I reached Silver status on the 1st of Jan 09 with 10 registered nights. I signed up for A-Club on the 1st of June 08. On the 30th of May my status is taken up for revision and shows 10 nights for the whole membership year and the silver card was delivered 6 months prior. So what does it really mean? Do I keep the silver card for another 12 months or is it back to the basic level?

Not that it makes any difference as there are no perks at all included in any of their levels other than more points gathered :(

Having said all that I just got an email renewing me at gold, even though I was a bit short. I guess over the coming weeks many folk will be finding out what happens to them!

In your example, if you reached Silver on 01 Jan 2009, I would think your status revision would occur on 01 Jan 2010, and would take into account your activity over 2010.

It is all a bit confusing as the website currently does not have two distinct points columns: status and total points, obviously you should keep on accumulating points and status points should be reset upon renewal. Anybody who was renewed lately could you indicate if this appears online?

I don't think there is any resetting of status points. The rolling 12 month point count just continues on. The two balances that are on screen are

Current A|Club account balance - which is your total balance

and

A|Club points earned during the last twelve months - which is the amount that determines status.

When I got renewed at gold, all that happened was my original 500 sign up points rolled off the last twelve month total, but the rest of the points for the last twelve months are still there

So basically, what it means is that everyone will eventually reach the next level as long as you have one stay pr 12 months...?

I guess it doesn't make much of a difference for Accor as there are no real perks attached to any of the membership levels.

No, to get to the next level you need to achieve the requirements to move up within a twelve month period.

At the moment, we don't really have a history of whether people will be maintained at a status, or whether they will drop.

What was the welcome gift?

What was the welcome gift?

I most cases at Sofitel and MGallery hotels this has been a box of chocolates, or a plate of fresh fruit. In case of the Sofitel Buenos Aires it was fruit.
