Hi guys, I'm will be flying NZ39 to London on Wed next week in Eco class; I remember that you could buy spare seats next to you at check-in for a very cheap price and that was only to LAX, is that right? I'm just wondering any of you would know if you can now buy the spare seats on NZ39 to London via Hong Kong?
Many thanks!!

The info you seek is at the website, here (http://www.airnewzealand.co.nz/before-you-fly/at-the-airport/twin-seat.htm) - NZD99 for AKL-HKG, HKD450 HKG-LHR.
It's dependent on how full the flight is, so it may not be offered on all sectors. It was on my last HKG duty, which had about 212 of 240 seats occupied.

Oh, the other thing I forgot to say is that I'm also an Air NZ silver member as well, does anyone need those 2 Air NZ lounge passes please message me, I will give them out free. :)
p.s. I think those passes are only for silver members and their guesses, I'm really sure.
Cheers

Thanks for that info NZ Crew. Just curious, what would you consider is the "etiquette" for this extra seat... I remember well all the strategies with economy class, boardiing late vs boarding early, trying to charm the gate staff to ask where empty seats are. etc and on the plane trying to spot the empty seat and moving there just as the doors close! ;)
When there would be a spare seat usually one shares this with the passenger one seat over, so nether hogs the seat but you both have more space, but I guess if you paid for it you can do what you like with the seat.
I could easily imagine that this could become a disputed issue! Would you as crew support the passenger or is there some way to demarkate the seat as blocked? I would feel kind of awkward in a row of four with the extra seat and not sharing it.

Don't worry, oranjemakker - prior to boarding we're provided with a list of those who have purchased the twin seat, and we apply a special antimacassar designating the seat as such. People will thus know it's your 'property'.

Thats excellent! ^
I have to say, an extra seat does make the thought of a flight in the back less daunting! I think I would probably even prefer two economy seats to a middle seat in PE
