Hi,

I had booked a ticket with BT, but had to change a date. But their fees are insane: it would have been 100EUR to change the dates in the same booking class for oneway ticket, while the new ticket in the same (P) class was 95EUR. And from the old ticket I could get the airport taxes back (but not YQ/YR... should I make a legal complaint to get those back, if I would cancel that ticket? as they use no fuel, if I do not fly... ) but the question now is that I could easily do also online check in but make a no-show. In that case, would I get the miles for EB account (probably the would also delay a bit the plane and make some annoucnements in the airport), but just 18 € refund it so small, that I would not mind getting somehundred points for it. Comments, anyone perhaps has experiences?

just keep in mind by not showing, you will probably keep 100+ waiting for you for a while which is not a good practice.

No, only flown sectors will be credited. If you check in and do not show up at the gate then you will not receive the mileage.

Once I checked in for a flight to London on the machines in Copenhagen, went through security, sat in the lounge for a while before I headed to the gate. On my way I had to go through immigration, but when I presented my passport to the guy behind the desk he looked a little puzzled.

Him: "Where are you going?"
Me: "London"
Him: "Not with this passport"

He then handed it back to me, and I could see the face of my daughter on page 1...

Missed the flight, had to buy a new ticket and no miles on my account.

Miles are indeed registered at the gate when you board the plane and not when checking in (That is why the gate agent is the last stop if you wish to change FF program for instance).
However, you will not delay the flight simply by checking in online. The CI agent will remove you when closing the flight or when needing your seat if gate is "closed" - no big deal. The gate agent is even able to see that you have OLCI and not been in person at the airport. I have overheard this many times that they simply remove the pax if it is OLCI and no-show.
If you check in at the airport and check bags it is obviously a different story.

Thanks for the input, folks! I shall cancel my old ticket tomorrow then. But anyone had luck of getting back the YQ from Mr Flick's nuisance rules?

Not wishing to be Captain Obvious really but the rules for changing cheap fare tickets are punishing on a purpose. In most cases changing such ticket is more expensive than to buy a new one. However buying two cheap fare tickets in many cases still less expensive than buying a fully flexible one.
