SAS EuroBonus - Reduced Threshold for Gold due to crisis?

Due to the exconomic crisis I am travelling a little bit less that usual. So I can't quite get to the points needed for EB Gold this year. Does anyone think that SAS would be understanding if I asked for Gold even though I am about 5000 points short?

Also, does anyone think SAS they might lower the points required for Gold for everyone because there are lots of people in the same situation and they will lose lots of Golds due to the economic crunch?

Thanks for any input.

A colleague barely missed requalification, and received a letter they would renew his Gold card anyway, for this one time only.

Mind you he was just 250 points short.

You can always contact the Gold mailbox and ask them, seeing how much double status promos they are having, it doesn't hurt to ask.

Thanks for the info. But I don't know about Double Status promos. What is that?

I was about 2500 miles short last year so I called SAS, the lady asked me to email EB and a couple of days later I received a letter stating they would renew my card. ^

I did this a few years ago. I was about 20K short because of flying BA quite a lot, so I sendt them a copy of my BA silver card explaining that I had chosen other airlines several times that year beacause they had so much trouble with strikes. EBG was renewed. I think if you write them a decent letter they will help you. However, if you have to do it every year thats another story

You might even get a renewal without asking. I missed my gold threshold some years ago, but I got a nice mail stating they have chosen to prolong by EBG one more year, since I was a loyal customer. I think I was a couple of 1000 short.
But it might be a good idea to send them a mail or give them a call.

At the end of my EB year in Oct. 2002, in which I had not requalified, I got a letter saying 'we know air travel for everyone is in a bad state', and they renewed my EBG for 2003 anyway.

cheers,

Henry
