If I rent a car in a foreign country and it has the NeverLost GPS, can you select the language you want for directions?

I've never used a NL in a foreign country but the ones in the US do offer different languages so I'm sure the ones outside the US would have English as an option.

Yes, at least that's the case here in the netherlands where you can select any language in the interface of the neverlost, and it was always given to me default in english which is perfectly sensible.

It would be insanity to be limited to the local language granted I assume most renters are effectively non-residents and/or do not speak the local language.

Yes, but sometimes people have trouble changing the settings.

My mother once spent a week driving around France with the "language" in her car -- I think it was a Renault with all digital displays, gauges and nav -- set to German because she couldn't figure out how to change it to English!

Though had a Volvo V50 last week in NL, and the CAR settings were only available in NL.....OK by me as I can read NL ok, but still...

What you and bobsmo are speaking about however are the car computer settings, not the neverlost one... I agree that for the car it is less than ideal and it should ideally be set in english. ( I think the car I had 2 weeks ago had it in dutch, but I didn't bother looking into changing it as the pictograms and units made it relatively easy to figure out what it was, but still it is relatively inconvenient)
