It may sound strange but apart from a couple of nights in Radisson I have never yet spent any EB points and by now I have plenty of them.
I know that Radisson weekend stays are one of the best value, but I'm sick of Radissons on my business trips so this is ruled out.
I have some 250k points and looking for a trip to somewhere with my wife. What catched my attension is that some destinations are very bad value for the points. For example Reykjavik they want 60k points per person for C-class plus 120 EUR taxes, but hey, I can buy full fare C-ticket to REK for less than 1000 EUR anytime. If I compare this to EWR or ORD which are 90k points this is already better because you can rarely buy it for less than 2000 EUR.

But I'm sure there should be some better value (and interesting!) destinations to spend the points. Any advise? I'm EBG if it makes any difference and can originate from TLL/RIX/VNO/HEL

Most fun I ever had with points was CPH-FRA-JFK-LAX and return in F for 145,000 points + about 400EUR in taxes (if I remember correctly). Good value? Hmm ... I don't know! Fun to fly LH First? Yes!

Cheers

Upgrades and hotels are the best value. Otherwise look for special offers, they have had IC bonus offers at very favorable rates (20000p). But be aware of the increased taxes!
Otherwise, trips to LYR should be "good value".

Best value in the world:

PER-AKL-PPT (Perth to Tahiti) on NZ C flying 763/777 for 45.000 points.

It's 11.000 miles return or about 23 hours of flying... :D

The only problem is how to get to PER without spending lots of points or money :)
But thanks for PPT idea. Actually I was looking to spend a couple of weeks on Thaiti for a long time now, but the cost of C-ticket was always stopping me, normally it is around EUR 10000 for two people or even more. Maybe I can actually do it with points. What would be *A award routing/airlines from Baltic States or Finland to Tahiti?

p.s. just realized my 250k points are not actually "plenty", 2x tickets to PPT in F will set me for 480k points :) But I guess by the time I will have 480k on account, EB will become absolutely useless programm.

2 C-class tickets on NZ to HKG will set you back 270,000 points - accumulate or buy the remaining 20k

NZ has one of the best C class products around (if not the best) - and if you have not tried it you are in for a treat.

HKG is a great city, for both shopping, food, sights, hiking and gateway to mainland China and Macao. I always enjoy it when I am there.

Eurobonus once had Shangri-la vouchers at 10000 points, bought a handful and enjoyed a free stay at the China World Hotel in Beijing. Wonder how they got hold of these - I wish the offer would come back.

I think one with the fewest legs would be to get to CPH, then CPH-SIN-AKL-<destination>. I guess for a few destinations you can catch a direct flight from SIN, both for the best choice a detour via AKL is the right way. The SQ flight CPH-SIN doesn't operate every day, so a viable alternative are the daily TG flights CPH-BKK and ARN-BKK, soon to include also OSL-BKK.

The Radisson weekend rates at 10,000 points is definitely not bad IMO. Some of the properties are 4+ or 5-star hotels with some rather expensive regular rates.

Otherwise look at the Star Alliance award chart on the SAS webpage and see the number of points required for different sectors in different classes.
Some are far better than others like an award trip within Southeast Asia (which actually covers a lot of countries) and within the Pacific region (which covers Australia, NZ and all the Pacific islands).

The only Star Alliance route to PPT nowadays in on Air NZ from Auckland, I think it's operated 2-3 times per week.
Then you need to get from north Europe to Auckland, either via Asia (most likely SIN or BKK) or via the US (most likely LAX).

In the past Air NZ operated LAX-PPT, but the route was suspended.
