All Nippon Airways Mileage Club - Chances of scoring a seat in first class from the waitlist?

I'm thinking of redeeming a first class award ticket from either LAX or SFO to NRT. If the online search shows no availability but I can be added to the waitlist, does anyone have an idea of the chances of actually having this go through and getting the seat? The flights I'm looking at are in February/March.

It also looks like I can get business class no problem. Can I get that confirmed and still be on the waitlist for F?

If you really want to go, book C and waitlist for F.
I'd do it via the call center.

Do you have mileage enough to cover both awards?

That's exactlly what I was planning to do. I'm going to transfer AmEx points into the AMC account to get the award ticket, and I'll put enough in to cover any possibility.
