Other Hotel Programs - Closed: Sofitel LYS

Just tried to book a room at the excellent Sofitel in the terminal at Lyon St Exupery. The desk clerk told me the airport has purchased the property and will be turning it an office tower. She told me that a new NH Hotel is supposed to be opening nearby the first week of October.

It looks like the hotel actually closes on October 6th as you can book rooms online through the 5th. That just leaves the Sofitel Bellcour of the 3 that were in Lyon. Le Royal was downgraded to a Mercure.

This is terrible news. The Sofitel was right inside the airport and as a Sofitel elite member I always got upgrades to nice rooms. This dang airport keeps getting harder and harder to deal with. :mad:

Plus I was planning on making a booking for Oct 8th! I guess I need to join NH's crappy program now.

The NH website says the Lyon Airport hotel is open for booking starting Oct 16th. So there is no hotel at LYS from the 5th through the 16th? That is messed up.
