Hey guys
Melbourne flights SQ227/238 are "upgrading" to the big bird next week.
How does SQ celebrate the first scheduled A380 flight to a new city?
Any souvenirs or freebies for travelling pax?
(and if yes, am I better flying in or out of Melbourne on the first flight?)
thx!

Whatever the answer, it may be easier to fly out of MEL on the first flight rather than into MEL if you don't have a booking already.
At the moment SIN-MEL is unavailable on any flight in Y between 26 Sep and 6 Oct, and I know business class is not avail on SQ227 on 29 Sep (first A380 flight) (or 30 Sep - as I am trying to book that one). Of course at a cool $11K SGD return so plenty of availability in Suites.
Oh, and a quick :D :D aside - got an email from my TA this afternoon asking "if it was necessary to proceed with waitlist on SQ 227 .. " (A380) given that I am already confirmed onto SQ 237 ( on a 773 with old regional business class seats) .....

Hi flyGreg, hope you picked up some of those specials that SQ were offering, how cheap were those business class tickets?, these always come around when the cash is drying up, damm I was only able to get a HKG for Christmas and a CDG one for next year. Ibelieve the new terminal will also be open in Melbourne for the arrival, so this will take pressure off the A380 pod. With the A380 now on the MEL run, my BKK trips via SIN no longer seem a chore, and the direct TG flight will take a back seat for a while, so it will be nice. I have booked a couple of trips through their website and was amazed to find I had a choice of times and aircrafts and no surcharge if I picked the A380. This will also become my favourite way to HKG as there is a 1 hour transfer onto the A380serving that port. Suddenly it's all happening in Melbourne, roundabouts and slides, you just have to be patient, cheers bkkrop
