Virgin America Elevate - VX the bags requirement cutoff times some US Airports

Hi All,

I just found out where VX bags requirements will be cutoff time some US Airports is: SFO, LAX, SEA, IAD, JFK, LAS, SNA will be recommend 45 minutes prior to departed flight out of original airport but, there is some airport is reduced the time 40 minutes before departed flight is SAN & BOS only. IT wasn't too much the times where the bags is cutoff time requirements. I didn't realize know that for which specific time for the bags is cutoff requirements. Thanks all.

You're kidding, right? For maybe an extra 10-15 minutes of baggage check time, you need to be at the airport 150 minutes before takeoff?

I've dropped people off with checked luggage at SEA maybe 75 minutes before flight time, and it's no problem for them to get through- TSA wait times rarely go over 30 minutes at SEA, and often it's 5 minutes. With elite status (AS MVPG), I've been in downtown Seattle at 5:45 and been walking onto my plane at 6:30, during boarding (AS sometimes starts boarding a few minutes early- I am getting pretty good at timing gate arrival to 30 minutes before flight at my home airport). I can usually drop off my rental car at LAS at 60 minutes before boarding and easily have time to spare before boarding my plane.

I'm a little more conservative traveling with my daughter or going overseas, but even then I often find 90 minutes means killing time at the airport. Maybe I'm faster than the average bear (I rarely check luggage and use the Diamond/Experienced Traveler TSA lane when it's present), but 2.5 hours? Really? Maybe at some airports that have really poor TSA experiences and you'll need to speak to an agent at the airport first, but honestly, I find 2.5 hours is serious overkill.
