Mrs. Spinmeister and I will be arriving on AF from New York around 12:30. We would like to have lunch before picking up our rental car and heading for Burgundy. Any suggestions for a reasonable lunch prior to driving for a few hours?

It all depends what you want of course. Plenty of choice at CDG but if you want stuff like steaks, I'd recommend hippopotamus restaurant (it's a French chain of steak house). It's located landside in the pier connecting term 2D to 2B. Also, there is a "brasserie Flo" landside in term 2F.
Enjoy your time in Burgundy

The Sheraton has an affordable buffet lunch. I usually take the starters and dessert option, with no main course. The Sheraton's other restaurant is more expensive and, IMHO, quite overpriced.

I second that (and Sheraton maybe the only option for decent lunch at CDG, except of course the Air France Première lounge;))
I have never tried Miyou, the Guy Martin bistrot/fast food at T2E.

It is more of the latter ("fast food") than of the former ("bistrot") type. Quite good, but 50% of that impression comes from the design of the place and the (good) choice of items on offer. The actual food quality is alright, not more than that, and it is, well, a fast food place with self service and paper/plastic junk on your table.
But if you're in a hurry, then it's quite a nice option.

I had a surprisingly good meal at hippopotamus. It looked most unpromisingly like Sizzler (a low-end American steak chain), but I had a very tasty Charolais steak. Of course, you'll get better Charolais beef in Burgundy...

It will be lunch time in Paris, but your stomach will tell you that it is only early morning US time. And it will be no fun dragging suitcases around the airport and cafeterias and running the risk of theft. Maybe eat the breakfast in the plane, rent your car and stop somewhere on the way; it will be a long ride and might be nice to have a nice stop in the middle.

stop somewhere on the way
Excellent suggestion
There are plenty of superb options for lunch on the way
Just half way, a lunch near Auxerre (for example: at Jean-Luc Barnabet's gastronomic restaurant; or even better, Relais & Château A la Côte St-Jacques) would be a perfect introduction to Burgundy's art de vivre.

If the plane lands at 12:30, I don't think the OP has any chance of arriving before the end of the lunch service at upscale restaurants in Burgundy or even midway to Burgundy. He could make it to a Courtepaille in Evry, though, but I would rather have lunch at CDG. ;). Driving into Paris after a TATL flight doesn't look like a good option, either.

Agreed. I've had the experience many times: we're driving across the French or Italian countryside, just starting to feel hungry, and realize it's already after 1 pm and we need to get lunch sorted RIGHT AWAY.

CDG isn't a place to linger : grab a couple of baguette sandwiches from Paul and run for thar hills.

Eh? Theft?? As a traveler I am used to drag suitcases around, often in dodgy and insecure feeling places...and CDG has it's quirks but it has very good eateries...but...I am puzzled now! Theft is something which never ever in the 100's and 100's of times I went, whisked or struggled through there has crossed my mind.

I have a much better option. Take the AF bus to Gare De Lyon and have one of the best lunches you will ever have inside a transportation hub. http://www.le-train-bleu.com/
After a long flight and a high end French lunch, I would not try driving. I would take the train to Burgundy and pick up a car at the station. Most all the main train stations in Burgundy have rental offices from Avis, Hertz, etc. I have rented at Dijon, Chalon Sur Saone, etc. And the TGV to those locations leave from Gare de Lyon.

A second vote for Paul.
And then just take the train!

Eh? Theft??
Theft is not an issue at CDG ... but unattended luggage
Great suggestion stimpy !
It is indeed the best option. ^
