Hey All,
I had no idea that buying an airline ticket is such a nerve wracking experience.
First, I went to asaptickets . com What a freakin rip-off. The price on their website was $800, but the actual price was over $1300.

Then I see this thing on Expedia that says $800 RT to Thailand.
BTW, that's where I'm trying to get to, Thailand from mid December to late March.
Ok, so the $800 expedia thing. The deal was from Chicago. I live in Ohio, but I figured I'd take a greyhound bus to Chicago, and save a couple hundred bucks. I call up expedia. They say "Oh, we don't have any of those tickets." Well then why the heck does your website say differently. AHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!

Then I found a United flight for $1250. It's more than I was hoping to pay, but alot better than the other prices. Then I realize that the price is for a flight leaving December 8th. My finals for Autumn classes aren't over until the 10th. If I leave just 3 days later, the price jumps $400. ...!

Anybody have any suggestions? I never realized the airline industry was such a crappy place to do business.

I've tried Kayak and the all the other major companies.
Any help, suggestions???

Steve

For 2009 and SE asia, if you can't leave by Dec 9th it will cost you a couple hundred dollars more. That said, look at fares from LAX where there is a lot more competition and routing choices. You can probably save more than the cost of a cheap ticket to LAX. Also, all booking engines are not the same; you might find a flight combo that is a hundred or more dollars cheaper than on other sites. DO NOT bother with any site that offers a low-low fare and then wants you to phone them -- invariably it's a bait and switch.
