Other Car Rental Programs/Partners (ie. Alamo, Enterprise, Sixt) - Weird Sixt price system for Gold members

Hi everybody! :)
When booking a car with my SAS XEB rate on CXMR (BMW 1) the price when logged in with my Gold status is actually higher then without Gold. The strange thing is now when booking a GPS to it, the price is actually going down.
On occasions they offered my up to 5 Euro reduction for ordering a GPS!!
This only happens when using Gold membership. How can this price be higher then the regular price?? I don't get it! It says that I would get 25% reduction when being Gold status. Seems like a failure in the system to me.

I know, I see the same thing.. I'm Platinum (through United 1K) and have noticed rates are lower if I do not log in. Strange.

That is so weird!
Did Sixt ever comment on it?
They tell you something about 25% reduction, and the prices go actually up!!!
I noticed the same thing when received my Platinum card through credit card awards program. Talked with Sixt representative and he told that they are completely aware of the "problem" - offered discounts do not apply to the prices you see on the website. If you want to book at these prices you would have to make a reservation first without logging in and add your card number just before confirming the reservation. Gold and Platinum rates would probably be better when regular rates go up for some reason like high demand etc.
I've had this as well - I find it much cheaper to book without logging in as it sometimes includes insurance as opposed to logging in with my Gold membership as it doesn't AND is more expensive anyhow!
Same here, I have a Gold card I never use... because prices are more expensive for gold.
This also applies to Hertz in Germany, most of the times I get better rates w/o Gold / #1 Club. I even used to call them and they confirmed what I saw online... "Uhm.. it's €20 more if we add your #1 club number".
Shame about it, would have been at least five star if I could have always used it.

The reason is that the Sixt Prices on their website were "Internet" rates. And the Discounts of 25% or 30% applied to the regular Offline Rates.
This of course didn't make much sense as the best customers actually paid the highest prices if they actually used their cards.
Let me say that for Germany Sixt has become a major disappointed to me. They not only raised their prices several times over the last year but also came up with some other great "enhancements". Like one way fees (not seen for years), limit on miles included (previously unlimited) etc.
Now their "Internet" prices are extremely high and the Cards actually give you a discount but not really attractive at the end.
They have totally outpriced themselves in terms of price/value for my rental patterns. I was a platinum customer with about 50 rentals a year at the beginning of the year. Now I have not rented with them for months.
I am surprised that they still find people that pay these prices when I walk by their counter.

+1
I finally switched to Hertz when Sixt introduced the surcharge for young drivers. With Hertz I get at least a one category upgrade, even as a #1 Club Gold member.

I recently finished an eight day rental in France. Sixt was absolutely the cheapest of all the major rentals. I rented their internet special compact. I only added my platinum # just before confirming the reservation. I also got the free upgrade to midsize because of the platinum status.

best way to receive reasonable prices to ask for a corporate rate, if you are self employed or have a higher position within a company. Worked for me and I have
- good rate
- no one way fee
- no km limits
Only downside is, that you just receive 500 miles per rental and have no chance for aiming to the 2.000 miles offered for 50+ rental-costumers.

AFAIK they switched the offer from Miles&More to Air Berlin TopBonus, i.e. you can only get 500 miles per rental with Miles&More at the moment.

Interesting, because I wanted to complain about this exact thing, 500 miles only for my past 2 rentals. Wonder when they were thinking of communicating this or did I miss it...
I am just utterly not impressed with SIXT at the moment what-so-ever. I rented through an iPhone app a compact with my Premium # at FRA main station and it came to 155 eur for a weekend. I did not have much choice so I reserved a car. They gave me a Golf that I did not like so I went in to switch and got nice A6 which is more in line with the price tag....Cmon, compact 155...I cancelled all of my October reservations because of some non-SIXT related reasons, but looking now at my future rentals because of limit on KM and ridiculous rates, I will be using mostly coupons with Europcar (through Payback) for my personal weekend rentals and will give Avis a try for my business rentals because of unlimited kilometers with Europcar and Enterprise as second options. Another thing that made me decide to go with SIXT in the past was selection of cars but even that seems now devaluated with more and more base models in each category with that silly Becker navigation and all of a sudden majority of cars being benzin models. Worst thing out of all for me is that I was trying pretty hard with combination of business and private rentals in past 9 months with about 30 rentals in total to achieve Platinum status just to be disappointed once I achieved it with all these changes...
Anyone had similar thoughts....

After a rental in Switzerland last month I need another one in Germany. In both instances their online rates are 20 - 30% higher than the best offers. Using my Plat # it is even higher. I have used others/nonSixt now. Too bad, if their rates were competitive as they used to be, I'd still give them my business.
I had similar experiences several months ago. In one case, I booked a Sixt Car through CarRentals.com booking engine. There was no place I saw to add the gold number. I e-mailed and it was added, but the price almost doubled by adding the number, though I did not know this until I went to pick up the car. After much pushback and some discussions with reps in London, they manually adjusted the price back down to the amount on the confirmation. It was absolutely clear that adding the number raised the rate.

Just did that and was given a prepaid rate. Upon asking for coporate rate I was given a "fully flexible" rate. The agent had a hard time finding a corrporate rate. Now this flexible rate is substantially higher, but will come down once the Plat discount is applied. I plan to add my Plat # upon time of rental.
