I will be traveling OZ LAX-ICN-PEK. Just wonder if there is shower facilities to use during my 3-hr laidover at ICN.

Yes. Both F & C lounges have shower facilities. The C showers can get quite busy in late afternoons/early evenings IME.

If you don't have lounge access, I believe that ICN has fee showers on the level above the main terminal airside.

Yes, the upper level does have "free" showers, but you don't get the shower kit (including a towel) unless you pay the fee (I think $8). So actually not very free unless you happen to travel with a towel and other necessities in your carryon.

One word of warning about the OZ showers. The person designing the lounges must have been a dainty Korean woman who failed to realize that there would be a number of quite large foreigners using the lounge. For example, the showers are very nicely tiled but the floor can be extremely slippery when wet. Thus it's an absolute necessity in my opinion to use the provided shower slippers. However there's no way they'll fit even an average westerner's feet, much less someone with huge feet. Someday someone's going to have a serious injury in the shower due to having no option but to use it with bare feet.

My post did say FEE, not free. However, in retrospect, not as clear as it could have been.

My bad. Read your post after 7 hours of flying and only a few hours of sleep in the past 3 days.

I think they should have some "secret shoppers" to shop around what kind of amenities provided for other airlines lounge shower. NRT would be a good idea. The toiletries are slightly upgraded, but still not up to par especially in the F lounge compare to other F lounge showers.

The main problem is they don't give you enough towels. One big towel and one small towel that's it. After the shower, I basically have to use the towel just dried out my body and put it on the floor to dry my feet, in order to avoid slipping on the floor.

I'll have to check next time I'm there, but I thought they had three "towels". The big one hanging on the shower door towel rack, a smaller one as you mention, then an even smaller one. Of course the smallest one is too small to be considered a towel...more like a hand towel I guess. But maybe I'm remembering wrong. But they do definitely have a floor mat, which I use for drying my feet on. The floor mat is absent in the concourse A OZ F lounge though, and not sure about the towels there.

Oh, and the slippers in the concourse A lounge are a bit larger than the main concourse lounge. Maybe some people complained there already. They're still though I'm sure not big enough for a fair number of bigger sized passengers.

Anyways, I wasn't really referring to the tiling outside the shower as being slippery, even though it's the same tiling used inside the shower. Obviously if you didn't dry your feet properly it would be a problem. I think though people inside the shower are going to be much more prone to the danger of having a serious or maybe even fatal fall if they try to use it without slippers. The soapy water on the smooth tiled floor is simply an accident waiting to happen. I think adding a warning sign somewhere in the shower would be appropriate. Saying the floor is very slippery and to use the supplied slippers. Koreans and many Asians are used to using slippers inside showers. Many westerners are not and will likely try to shower without them, especially if the size is too small.

Edit: I just realized you're probably referring to the C lounge, whereas I was referring to the F lounge. It's been quite a while since I used the C lounge so don't recall exactly, but I do think they do not have the floor mat.

Take a look at my photos, you will see how many towels in main concourse and concourse A.

http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/trip-reports/922335-asiana-oz-f-ord-hkg-twist-intra-asia-ua-f-nh-c-lots-pics-part-2-a.html

There are two towels in main concourse, one medium one large as you can see from my photos, it was still in plastic packing sit on top of the sink to the middle left of the pic.

There are more than 3 towels in concourse A though, big one hanging by the door, medium and small ones by the cabinet.

I don't remember if there is a door mat, as even if it does, I am not going to use it, as after I shower, my feet are clean, don't want to step on a mat who knows how many people had used it or if it properly cleaned. Usually use a towel instead for public showers, as those for sure will be washed with detergent after someone use it. As it is also the case in NRT UA RCC and NH lounge, they use a separate towel as floor mat right outside the shower for you to dry your feet. They have four towels in eaach showers, one on the floor, one small wash cloth, one medium, and one large bath towel.

I would never want to use slippers either unless it is the sealed package ones like they give out in F or C or those in hotels. That is the same sanitize reason for the mat. I am sure they didn't have those sealed package ones or I would have taken a pair home in my collection.

Ah no, if I fly OZ, it would be F, not C. Therefore I am referring to F lounge.

I will have to check again on my next trip to be sure, I may be mixing up the three towels with the A concourse rather than the main concourse as usually I only use the big towel and sometimes the small towel. Never all three. They no longer wrap the large towel in plastic in the main concourse lounge. It is just hanging folded over the door towel rack. At least as of yesterday morning when I was last there.

So you shower without any slippers and don't find the shower floor slippery? Maybe I have unusual feet then. I do have quite dry skin, so perhaps people with more oily skin don't have a problem.

Yes the slippers are not sealed in plastic. My guess is that they are used repeatedly and then cleaned or disposed of after a certain number of uses. It doesn't bother me as whether someone else's feet have been in them before, being it's either that or the floor where someone else feet have been. I doubt the floor is sanitized after each use. Same with the floor mat. I guess if I was that worried about someone else's feet, I wouldn't use any public showers. That or bring my own slippers and wear them continuously while in the shower.

That's why it need to be a separate towel right out of the shower. When my feet is dirty, don't mind step on a bare floor. But after I shower when my feet is clean, want to dry it out on a clean towel, then put on my socks and shoes. It is just the same logic in most hotels they usually have a separate towel put it aside to use as dry out your feet after shower, also to avoid slippery floor.

If Japanese can do it in NRT lounges (UA and NH), I can't see why Koreans especially OZ can't apply the same practice. Towels will be laundered each time after someone use it, but reusable slippers or mats probably will just dry out then someone use it again. It is just about better hygiene. Back at home, everyone has their own slippers, no one is going to use someone else slippers at all.

I just wanted to add my observations from when I used the OZ F lounge showers this past Saturday. This was in the main terminal. As A_Lee mentioned, the towels no longer come in sealed bags. There is a big towel hanging near the shower, a medium size towel folded by the sink, and a wash cloth sized small towel also by the sink. I believe there was a floor mat next to the shower. Personally, I didn't find the shower to be slippery.

Like ORDnHKG, I didn't want to use the provided slippers cause I wondered how often they changed them or cleaned them. I also didn't want to step on the mat with my clean feet. After taking a shower, I grabbed the big towel and dried myself. Then I put it on the floor and slid the towel towards the sink with my feet so I wouldn't have to walk on the floor. I then shaved, brushed my teeth, and used the lotion in that area. I used the medium towel to dry my face and hands during this time. Overall, I found the showers to be very clean in the F lounge. My mom is very picky about using public showers and she had no problem with them. I found them to be as clean as a hotel.

We showered around 8am. The three times I was in the lounge, I found it to be pretty empty. The most people I've seen in there was probably 10 people at once. I was there twice in the morning (7-11am) and once in the late afternoon (4pm-6pm).

Well then maybe it's just me. If everyone else finds the floor to not be slippery, then I must have strange feet.

My experience duplicates yours. I'm at the OZ F lounge on average once every week or two, and the very most I've ever seen was about a dozen people there. Often I'm the only one or one or two others. Hopefully it stays that way because I really enjoy the lounge when it is so empty.

After reading all the posts, I am still confused. I will be traveling on C class, so do I need to bring my own towels?

No. There are towels in the shower rooms.

Just to be clear, the showers referred to in this thread where you have to pay for a towel are the shower rooms on the fourth floor, across from the Hub Lounge. They claim to be "free" showers but when you ask to use one they charge you for the towel/shower kit. These showers are for public use and not associated with the OZ lounge whatsoever. All OZ lounge showers have towels provided.

For further clarity, most of this discussion in this thread about OZ showers was referring to the OZ F lounge showers. The C lounge showers are very similar, though much smaller, and I believe no floor mat outside the shower. The tiling, amenities, etc. are the same from what I saw.
