Starwood Preferred Guest - Loudest Room Ever

I'm staying at the 4pts Times Square, and my room is obnoxiously loud. The front desk said that the hotel next door is doing construction and the noise is reverberating throughout the 4pts. There are no special conditions listed on the website. I realize that this is outside of the hotel's control, but so are hurricanes, floods, and other weather-related events. Given that I had to take several calls this morning from my room, I would have stayed elsewhere had I know.
I have only once asked for the magic C-word, but feel it is due in this case. I would like to get some FTers opinions on this situation before talking to the manager. Thanks!

What is the magic C word? "Comp"?
What advice do you need? What you wrote above is clear and to the point.
Suggest they add that there is construction next door to their webpage.
Might I suggest moving this to the 4 Points Times Square master thread so that anyone researching that property knows there is a recent "issue"?

Has the construction work being going on for many days/weeks? In other words, I'm trying to find out if it would have been logistically possible for the hotel management to reasonably foresee that this would be a problem for the dates you are staying in the hotel.
If they could have predicted it, then personally I would have no problems bringing up the "C" word. In situations like this where I try but get stonewalled by the front desk staff, I like to ask them to pass a message onto the manager to come visit me in my room and ask whether he/she thinks the noise is acceptable or not.

Bad move, as the manager will never come. Go downstairs have the GM or Director of Operations come up to your room with you.
